Travel & Lodging

Crested Butte is a historic mining and ski town in the Elk Mountains of South Western Colorado. It has retained its character and charm by being "off the beaten path"....although sadly that is changing over time. It is a bit of a trek to get to but I promise you will not be disappointed. We recommend you fly into Denver and make the beautiful 4.5 hour drive (a great way to see the state!) or fly into Grand Junction (3 hour drive) or Gunnison (30 minute drive).

Your trip will be much more fun and comfortable if you have a car at hand for exploring and getting to/from the Town of Crested Butte.

Shuttle

Wedding Shuttle

September 24, 2022 2:45 pm - 10:15 pm

There is limited parking at the venue so we will run a shuttle from The Grand Lodge (by Mountaineer Square where the bus drops off) to the wedding venue from 2:45 - 3:45pm, back from 8:30pm -10:30pm. If you are staying in town you can take the free town bus up to Mountaineer Square (i.e. the ski resort) to catch our ride, or if that is not convenient you can drive and park up at the resort for free. The venue is only one mile from Mountaineer Square. If you are staying on the mountain you can also take the free "Condo Bus" and get off at "Mt. Crested Butte Town Hall" which is next to the venue. See Julia's email from 9/10, "Important Wedding Details", for links and more info.

Travel Note

Venue Parking

There is very limited parking at the wedding venue and this will be reserved for family and vendors. Please see the note regarding shuttles on how to get to/from the venue from town or from the ski resort.

Lodging Recommendations

The town of Crested Butte has a plethora of cute, cozy, and unique homes for rent on various rental sites like AirBNB. We recommend that family and friends stay together because #1, it's fun, and #2, it will be more affordable. If you stay downtown you will be able to walk to stores, restaurants, and even some trails and the river. If you stay up on the mountain by the resort (2 miles closer to the venue), you will find more condos and a traditional hotel (The Grand Lodge), with less options for immediate dining or amenities. Regardless, there is a free town shuttle (and bike path) between town and the resort, so you can't go wrong. We highly recommend you book lodging early as September is still high season. If you're local and up for more of an adventure, you could consider camping. We love life outdoors and being dirty, so do not feel obligated to show up sparkling clean to our wedding! Visit the city website for information on camping.
