Crested Butte has something for everyone: hiking, biking, walks, fly fishing, horseback riding, town strolling, river playing, SUP boarding - you name it! Follow this link to the town's primary tourism website and view the "Play" tab for things to do. We also recommend you search AllTrails.com for hikes and MTBProject.com for bike rides. Regardless of where you go, make sure you wear sunscreen, bring layers, take snacks, and drink lots of water so you stay feeling good.
For those wanting an easy-access river valley walk/hike, with stunning mountain views. This 4.5 mile (flat) out and back is perfect for those coming from lower elevation. The trailhead is a 10 minute drive from town and will provide a different vantage point of pristine mountain peaks. It's pretty stunning at sunrise and is a favorite running location for Julia.
There are various options for connecting together trails on Strand Hill to make your ideal hike or bike adventure. Depending on where you start, the trail can be fairly steep for the first mile. Keep in mind that, depending on winter snowfall and spring temperatures, there might still be snow on the trail. Strand Hill parking is about a half mile past the Brush Creek Trailhead, ~10 minutes from town.
