Flight
DC has three commercial airports: Washington National (also called Reagan National), Dulles International, and Baltimore/Washington International. If you're staying in Springfied or Alexandria, Washington National is definitely closer, and it's a very easy Metro ride. For those staying in Tyson's Corner, Dulles will be closer, and a much easier Metro ride, but Washington National is worth considering. If staying elsewhere, check specific information about your location, but know that either option should be fine. We strongly suggest NOT flying into Baltimore/Washington unless you are planning on spending a significant amount of time in Maryland during your trip. It's much closer to Baltimore than it is to Washington and is more than an hour's drive away from the venue!

Travel Note
We are registered at the Wingate by Wyndham, which is a three-star hotel in Springfield. It is about a fifteen minute drive to the venue, and there is a mall within walking distance which has many great places to eat. We are big fans of Nando's and Silver Diner. (Pssst... Silver Diner is especially great for anyone with a dietary restriction). There are some high-poverty neighborhoods nearby, but I've been going there for years and have never had any safety issues. There are several other two and three-star hotels in Downtown Springfield if Wingate by Windham doesn't strike your fancy. For those seeking more luxurious accommodation, we recommend staying in Old Town Alexandria, which has a fantastic waterfront and historic area, or Tyson's Corner, which is known for its luxury malls. Both areas have many four and five-star locations.
Travel Note
While visiting DC, we strongly recommend taking the DC Metro subway system. It is safe, reliable, affordable, and goes to most of the places you'll want to visit. Both Dulles and National airport have direct access to the metro, and the Wingate by Wyndham hotel provides complementary access to the nearest Metro station. Finding parking in DC tends to be difficult and expensive, so driving is not recommended. If you wish to explore Northern Virginia, however, driving is often the better option. Uber and Lyft are, of course, an option.
