How We Met

Once upon a time, a community theatre company called Britches and Hose was putting on a show called "An Ideal Husband." (Yes, that was the show; you can't make this stuff up). This new guy named Matthew came in to audition and really knocked it out of the park. "Hmm... fascinating," thought Wendy. After a year of attempting to subtly indicate interest, Wendy finally enlisted the help of a friend. This friend decided that the best course of action would be to ask one of Matthew's friends if she could ask around and maybe find out if he was single. That friend then went to Matthew and said something to the effect of "HEY, SOMEONE LIKES YOU AND I THINK IT'S WENDY!" A rather embarassing moment for Wendy, but, hey, someone had to make the first move, and evidently it wasn't going to be her or Matt! After that, Matthew and Wendy finally did when they should've done all along and actually talked to each other like sensible adults. And the rest is history.

The Proposal

Five years later, Wendy and Matthew were in another play, Much Ado About Nothing. This play, like any good Shakespearean comedy, ends with the heroes and heroines getting married. Matthew, however, was playing Don John, the main villain, who not only does NOT get married at the end, he also gets arrested. Never one to stick to the status quo, Matthew decided to take matters into his own hands. During curtain call, when we were taking cast photos, there was a call for a silly one. Everyone posed dramatically, and Matthew got down on one knee...
