June Lakes is close to many great attractions. Although our party is just a weekend, we encourage you to spend extra time just exploring. Yosemite, Bishop, Mammoth Lakes Basin, Mt Whitney, Lake Tahoe, the PCT....the options are endless. The Eastern Sierras are breathtaking and we hope you get to experience the beauty that it offers.
The Owens Valley is well known for its many fishing spots. It is popular for fly fishers and the catch in the area are rainbow and brown trout. You can hire a guide or find your own special spot.
There are endless hiking options ranging from short walks to miles tracked over mountain ranges! This is one of our favorite areas to backpack and explore. Short hike suggestions: Convict Lake Loop, Devils Postpile Base Trail, Inyo Craters Trail or the South Tufa Trail at Mono Lake Longer hikes: Thousand Island Lake, Carson Peak, Reverse Peak, Fern Creek Trail to Fern Lake, or anywhere on the PCT or High Sierra Trail
Mammoth Mountain has a huge mountain bike park! We love it not only for its lift service, but for the miles of vert combined with features all over the mountain. Perfect for beginners or seasoned riders. Don’t want to pay? Mammoth has plenty of trails throughout the town that are equally exciting. There are endless opportunities to swim around the June Lakes Loop. Many of the lakes around the loop have beaches for having a lazy day. To get away from the crowds, enjoy any of the trails up to the high country for access to beautiful alpine lakes and streams.
