Susie’s twin sister, Angela, has always been one step (ok, 2 minutes) ahead of Susie. She is an outdoor enthusiast and works seasonally as a climbing and mountaineering guide in Bellingham, WA. She is currently finishing nursing school. Although these two seem to be in constant competition, at the end of the day, they are each other’s best supporter and biggest fan. Susie can’t wait for her to be right by her side on her wedding day!
Best Man
Romulos first met Wayne in the middle of auditions for the Husky Marching Band in 2007. Wayne wished him well and his saxophone playing skill and tenacity, Romulos made it into the greatest sax section there ever was. Romulos and Wayne became fast friends and is also a fellow civil engineer. Their life-long friendship has many stories, which you should ask him about after a few beers. Saxes Never Die.
Bridesmaid
Kayla And Susie first met through a women’s group through their church, and quickly became friends. They lived together (where Susie and Wayne currently live) for 3 1/2 years until Kayla got married and Wayne moved into her place. Susie can’t imagine a better roommate than Kayla and is thankful for the endless support and compassionate heart Kayla shows her and everyone she’s around. Kayla is also a teacher in Seattle and one of Susie’s closest friends.
Groomsman
Jon and Wayne’s friendship was forged in the crucible that was known as the freshman dorm of Lander [floor] 4 at the University of Washington. An avid gamer, game facts guru, and Super Smash Bros. savant, Jon brought the joy of video games to their friendship and countless fun nights. Jon and Wayne have been long time roommates in collage and afterward. He continues to keep Wayne’s moral compass pointing north with his friendship and advice.
Bridesmaid
Elsa and Astrid (Liz and Susie) met in 2005 at Sjölunden, the Swedish summer camp where both spent many summers in northern Minnesota. Liz was a camper when they first met, but she came on staff a couple years after Susie and they have been friends ever since. Camp friendships and memories from the decade of summers means so much to both women, and Susie is so taksam to have Liz with her!
Groomsman
Jeremy and Wayne go way back to 7th grade science class, introduced by a mutual friend. Jeremy and Wayne did everything together from chess club, concert band, all while navigating awkward adolescence. They’ve enjoyed long conversations about the meaning of life and their friendship has withstood the test of time and space. They stayed close friends even while they were miles apart and Wayne is grateful to have him by his side once again at the wedding!
Bridesmaid
Jessie and Susie went to Beloit College together, where they shared many interests. They both swam on the swim team, came from the PNW, and eventually joined the local sorority Theta Pi Gamma (Susie is even Jessie's 'big sis'. Jessie has been a source of support over the years, and is the unofficial go-to for all things medical related as she is a highly skilled pediatrician.
Groomsman
David and Wayne have been friends going back to Frontier Junior High. Both band nerds and soccer players, David and Wayne have played together in jazz band, concert band, and the varsity soccer squad at Bethel High School. After returning from Rhode Island, David and Wayne reconnected again with their love of soccer through Balls Deep (co-ed indoor soccer team). David has been one of Wayne’s long-time friends, with many more good times ahead! #MauiBoyz.
Bridesmaid
Megan And Susie became friends within days of starting college at Beloit in 2005. They lived in the same floor of 840, a freshman dorm. They have a shared love for travel and both work in schools, Megan as a school psychologist in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Susie And Megan’s support for each other goes deep and Susie loves how Megan always seems to say the right thing when Susie calls or texts feeling down. They recently traveled to Puerto Rico together, and Megan helped Susie pick Rico as the new addition. Susie is so fortunate to have Megan as a friend and supporter for the big day! *Unfortunately, Megan won't be able to attend this 2022 celebration. We will miss your presence, Megan!
Groomsman
Eric has been Wayne’s friend since Wayne joined the sax section of the Husky Marching Band in 2006. He had been a great mentor and friend during that time and always had a knack for keeping things in perspective. A wise man with plenty of wisecracks, Eric is one of the funniest, caring, and lighthearted people you’ll ever meet. Eric is the first and best team manager there ever was for Balls Deep. After he invited Wayne to join the team in 2015, they both have been keeping their healthcare costs down and happiness up playing a sport they both love. Saxes Never Die.
Bridesmaid
Sara And Susie met in 2009 when they both worked/volunteered at Greenwood elementary. Sara was working on her PhD (which she has now!) and Susie was in Americorps. They became fast friends and eventually roommates for a year. Sara is currently teaching in Thailand, yet is making the long trek back to WA for Wayne and Susie’s big day. She is one of Susie’s dearest friends and we are thrilled she is willing to travel so far to be here!
Officiant
Aileen is a public defender in Seattle. She is a bold and wise friend of both Wayne and Susie. We asked Aileen to officiate our wedding because she represents great friendship, shared professional and spiritual goals, and has a heart for all those around her. Note: We won't be having a ceremony after all, but Aileen would have been the greatest officiant!
