Everleigh Vineyards & Brewing Company
Located half a mile from Avonlea farms, this family-owned winery has a selection of wine made from Chardonel, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc grown on their property as well as locally produced beers and ciders for those who don't prefer wine. Get a taste of Central Virginia and what it has to offer in their two story tasting rooms with indoor and outdoor seating or take a walk through the gorgeous homegrown vineyard. Fifty-Third Winery & Vineyard
As the name so aptly suggests, this establishment became the 53rd Virginia Farm Winery to be licensed in July of 1999. Located only 2 miles from Avonlea Farms and seated on 103 acres with over 20 acres of planted vineyards, this winery has a lot to offer the both your eyes and palate. Growing a variety of varietals such as Albarino, Cabernet Franc, Chardonel, Chardonnay, Petit Verdot, Vidal Blanc and Viognie, this winery aims to "show how good Central Virginia wine can be". Grab a glass or buy a bottle to share with friends while taking in the rolling hills around the property. Hours Monday - Sunday 11am - 5pm
Callie Opie's Orchard Restaurant
Close to Lake Anna, Callie Opie's farm to table American regional cuisine and craft brews are sure to please. Sit either inside the main restaurant in the dinning room with full-service bar or connect with others on the outdoor dog-friendly patio which are accompanied by fire pits, cornhole boards, and umbrella-covered seating. Lake Anna State Park
Lake Anna is one of the most popular lakes in all of Virginia, famous for its largemouth bass, crappie, and bream. With over 11 trails totaling over 15 miles, Lake Anna is sure to impress and keep you busy during down time between wedding festivities. Cabins, lodges, campsites, yurts and camping cabins are available for rent if you decide to make our wedding a weekend get-away! Park opens from 7 a.m to dusk. Parking is limited so park services recommend getting their early. Park office opens daily from 8 a.m to 4:30 p.m
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden
This is one of our favorite places to go. In October, the grounds may be bare due to the autumn season, but the Greenhouse itself is worth the trip. From lush vegetation to cute decorations, the Greenhouse feels straight out of a fairy tale. Lewis Ginter has several shops that stock locally source products as well as restaurants with dine-in, out and to-go services-- perfect for a fall picnic. Maymont Park
Maymont holds a special place in our hearts as this is where David popped the question. From manicured rolling fields to tailored specialty gardens, Maymont is sure to please all that come here. Be transported to a different place while walking through the Italian or Japanese garden or observe more than 200 exotic species of trees and plants in the Arboretum. If plants aren't your thing, feed farmhouse animals at Maymont's farm or take a walk on the wild side through wildlife exhibits of native species in Virginia. Grounds, Gardens & Outdoor Wildlife Open daily, 10am-7pm $5 suggested admission
Belle Isle
Belle Isle is located on the James River in downtown Richmond. Enjoy scenic views of historic locations like Hollywood Cemetery, Tredegar Iron Works and the Richmond Skyline while traversing the hiking trails. David and Taylor often take to some of the flat, large rocks on river to picnic! It's also a perfect for sunbathing (weather permitting). Open from dawn until dusk each day.
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts
We both love the VMFA and as an added bonus its FREE. Enjoy walking through the many exhibits or take a break at one of the few cafés. Weather permitting, take a walk on the wild side through courtyard. It's a stunning location to picnic (or share a bottle of wine) with friends and family.
My Noodle & Bar
One of Taylor's favorite restaurants in the Richmond proper area. This small hole in the wall restaurant located in the basement has a fun, immersive environment and delicious Thai food including Taylor's favorite Curried Noodles and David's favorite Pad See Ew. Take a load off from traveling and enjoy one of their hand crafted cocktails. This restaurant has a special place in our hearts as it was the first place we went officially as an engaged couple.
