Joe had seen Lindsey at a Syracuse basketball game and thought she was cute. She didn't know him at the time, but knew of "4.0 Joe." Joe was involuntarily nicknamed "4.0 Joe" by his peers because of his impressive grades and was small town famous at our college. He was one year ahead of Lindsey so she booked a tutoring appointment with him to see what this guy was all about. Shortly after that Lindsey became a tutor herself and noticed how handsome "4.0 Joe" really was. She sent him a text during a meeting about how she liked his Jordan's (sneakers). They met up later that week at a party and found out they were meant to be together.
Joe started medical school at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in the fall of 2016 while Lindsey was finishing PA school. Upon graduation, Lindsey moved out to Minnesota to complete a Critical Care Fellowship while Joe was in medical school. They added their dog, Rye, to their home as soon as Lindsey moved out to join Joe. In the summer of 2018 Lindsey took a job as a PA in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Mayo Clinic. Lindsey and Joe knew they wanted to stay in Rochester, MN so they bought a home in March of 2020. Joe graduated medical school in the summer of 2020 and started his residency in Anesthesiology at Mayo Clinic. In December 2020 Lindsey earned her Doctorate through MCPHS University. In the spring of 2021 they added their second dog, Jive, to their home as well.
Lindsey and Joe had been together for nearly a decade. They had designed a ring together and knew they would marry one another some day. Lindsey wanted the proposal to be a surprise so after a few months, Joe came up with a plan to ask for her hand. He took her to her favorite restaurant, TapHouse West End, ordered her favorites (especially chocolate cake to go!) and headed back home. As soon as they got to the kitchen he started playing the background music to "Beautiful Crazy" by Luke Combs. Joe likes to sing for fun and wrote his own lyrics about their love, their life, and their journey together. Creatively constructed, the song was perfect. By the end of the song he got down on one knee and asked if she would be his girl forever. It was the perfect, heartfelt, and thoughtful proposal any girl could have asked for.
