We’ve included a few of our favorite spots below for anyone looking to spend a little extra time around the neighborhood throughout the weekend. Safta: One of Walker’s favorite restaurants in Denver, located inside The Source Hotel. Walker did once leave covered in hives shortly before discovering a severe sunflower seed allergy, so now we know to avoid the Persian rice specifically. While you’re there, we also highly recommend grabbing a drink at Cimera, the rooftop at The Source, which has one of the best views of Denver and the mountains. RiNo Country Club: One of Danny’s go-to suggestions for meeting up with friends thanks to mini golf, a full bar, outdoor space, and an unexpectedly good smash burger. Denver Central Market: A great stop for local food, drinks, coffee, desserts, and shopping all under one roof. It’s also home to Izzio Bakery, which serves one of Walker’s favorite cinnamon rolls in Denver.
One of the most popular and accessible fall color drives from Denver, especially in early October. Located along Highway 285 about 1.5 hours southwest of Denver, with scenic overlooks, hiking trails, and large aspen groves.
A great option for scenic drives, fall colors, hiking, and wildlife spotting, plus plenty of shops, restaurants, breweries, and coffee shops throughout downtown Estes Park. Timed-entry reservations for Rocky Mountain National Park may apply depending on timing, so we’d recommend checking the RMNP section within the link below before visiting.
A great option for anyone wanting an easy mountain-town day trip without venturing too far from Denver (about a 30 minute drive depending on traffic). Golden has a walkable downtown, mountain views, breweries, restaurants, hiking nearby, and easy access to the foothills. A few of our favs: New Terrain Brewing Company: One of our favorite breweries in Colorado with mountain views, lots of outdoor seating, food trucks, live music, and hiking trails directly connected to the property. King of Wings: One of two locations in the Denver metro area and Danny’s all-time favorite restaurant. Highly recommend for anyone who loves wings and beer. If you find yourself at the Wadsworth location, know that the whole staff there knows Danny very well. Ace-Hi Tavern: A classic dive bar with the nicest staff, pool, and a very local, laid-back feel. We once celebrated Danny’s birthday here with a party bus, karaoke, and several people realizing the next morning they never closed their tabs.
