Dining & Drinking in Florence and Rome Below are a few of our favorite spots in Florence and Rome—places we truly love and highly recommend. You’ll often see restaurants labeled as either Trattoria or Osteria: • Osterias are typically rustic, wine focused, and tavern like, with smaller menus. • Trattorias are casual, family run restaurants serving hearty, affordable regional cuisine. While you really can’t go wrong with any restaurant or bar in Florence (it’s our favorite city in Italy), we recommend being a bit more selective in Rome, as there are many tourist traps near the city center.
