Must do, as Big island is famous for its volcanos.
Punaluʻu Beach
Black Sand Beach. Sea turtles are often found resting on the rocks here.
Papakōlea Green Sand Beach
1 of only 4 green sand beaches in the world! Park at the trailhead and walk 2+ miles/hire a (sketchy) shuttle for $20 per person. Or, drive yourself with a 4x4 Jeep!
Manta Ray Night Dive
One of the most unique experiences in the world. Snorkeling is an option too.
Kealakekua Bay
Best spot on the island for snorkeling. You can see tropical fish, turtles, and spinner dolphins here.
Magic Sands Beach Park
Larger beach option a few miles down the road from the resort. Take the trolley or rideshare :)
Mauna Kea
The world’s tallest mountain - 33,000 ft from ocean floor to summit. Not exactly a tourist destination but it’s possible to drive to the top in a 4x4 (we’ve never done it.) There are currently protests happening at the base against construction of a massive telescope.
