The Wedding Website of victoria rogers and jim leffew
We visited Mérida in March 2024 and immediately fell in love with this charming city. Known for its rich history, colonial architecture, and vibrant culture, Mérida offers something for everyone. From exploring Mayan ruins to savoring delicious local dishes like cochinita pibil and marquesitas, the city is full of unforgettable experiences. Whether you’re strolling through its colorful streets or relaxing in a nearby cenote, we’re excited to share this special place with you! Below you will find lists (with Google links) for all things Mérida. Additionally, we’ve individually listed just a few of our favs (🍨). Our recommendations include anything from hole-in-the-wall taco spots, bars, and parks to museums and Mayan ruin excursions. This list is by no means exhaustive - Mérida has so much to offer! I recommend walking its streets and seeing where the city takes you. ✨

This list merely scratches the surface of restaurants, breweries, and cocktail bars that Mérida has to offer. We personally loved the food at Arcano and the vibes at Anima. Picheta has an incredible rooftop bar overlooking the historic city center. It makes for an awesome stop at sunset. Salon Gallos and Mercado 60 are great spots for day drinking and snacks. La Negrita and La Ermita are fun “hole-in-the-wall” local bars (a must-visit, often with live music). El Malix is an awesome speakeasy bar (you enter through a refrigerator door!!). And don’t sleep on the Taqueria la Lupita located in the Santiago Market!! They’re amazing.

Dulcería y Sorbetería Colón

Dulcería y Sorbetería Colón

474A Calle 56, Mérida, Yuc. 97000, Mexico

I think we made like 5 trips to Colón during our time in Mérida. Their sorbet is out of this world, and they offer so many fun flavors. You won’t be disappointed!

El Malix (Speakeasy)

El Malix (Speakeasy)

494-D Calle 53, Mérida, Yuc. 97000, Mexico

This place markets itself as a glizzy 🌭 spot but don’t be fooled, there’s a speakeasy tucked behind the large refrigerator door. Cocktails and vibes 💯

La Negrita Cantina

La Negrita Cantina

415 Calle 49, Mérida, Yuc. 97000, Mexico
Manjar Blanco

Manjar Blanco

496 Calle 47, Mérida, Yuc. 97000, Mexico

This spot was featured on Netflix’s “Taco Chronicles”. It was our first stop in Mérida and did not disappoint. If you go, consider trying the cochinita pibil, a dish local to the Yucatán. It’s out of this world! 🚀

Parque La Plancha

Parque La Plancha

Calle 46, Mérida, Yuc. 97000, Mexico

This park is great for walks/runs and has playgrounds, splash pads, and green space perfect for children. There’s a shared space with lots of cute vendors and restaurants located within the park!
