FAQs

Question

Why are you getting married in Waitsfield at the Mad River Barn?

Answer

We spend most winter weekends skiing at Sugarbush (just up the road from the venue) and often enjoy après drinks and snacks at the Barn's bar & restaurant. We frequent the valley in the summer as well between hiking nearby peaks or swimming in the falls. The area vibe best reflects our lifestyle in Vermont and the ability to host all guests so close is a huge bonus!

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

Keep an eye out for your invitation as well-behaved children of our immediate family members are welcome. However, parents, we want you to enjoy your evening to the fullest! If you don't want kiddos wandering off in the woods/down to the stream or overhearing swear words in music, we can share with you the details of highly recommended local child-care providers. You will need to book them in advance!

Question

What should we expect for weather in July in Vermont?

Answer

You can experience several seasons in a day in Vermont, especially in the Mad River Valley, so our advice is to check the weather reports leading up to the weekend. Summer is typically warm (70-80s) during the day but temperatures drop at night, so light sweaters or jackets are often a staple.

Question

Is there a shuttle from my hotel/condo to the ceremony & reception?

Answer

If you are staying at one of the locations we recommended then yes! You will find information regarding exact times in your welcome bags upon arrival. We highly encourage you to utilize the shuttle service for the Saturday ceremony & reception as there is very limited parking available at the Barn and they will be running continuously throughout the evening. Shuttles will not be provided for the Friday evening welcome reception so carpooling is encouraged.

Question

Dress code?

Answer

The welcome reception is casual and we understand everyone will be arriving in the area at different times, so come as you are and be comfortable. Weather permitting we will be outside, but there is plenty of space in the restaurant and bar. As for our wedding, recommended dress code is cocktail attire, but keep in mind our ceremony will hopefully be taking place outside. The cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing will be in the covered pavilion. (Ladies, it would be a good idea to avoid stilletos - Veronica definitely won't be wearing them!)
