Fred van Zyl
Father of the Bride
Fred is the father of the bride. He is a cattle and sheep rancher in the Kalahari in South Africa. He built Theresa a homemade tennis court in between the red sand dunes in the Kalahari which ultimately got her to travel the world for tennis and earn a degree at Baylor University. He means the world to Theresa and will always be her “Pappa”. Theresa is her daddy’s little girl and she can’t wait to share this special day with her father and family.
Patricia van Zyl
Mother of the Bride
Patricia is the mother of the bride. She runs the cattle and sheep ranch along with Theresa’s dad in the Kalahari. Patricia has been the rock and cornerstone of the family. She taught Theresa how to play tennis since the age of 6 months and coached her throughout her tennis journey. Theresa is so appreciative of all the time she has put into her tennis career which ultimately led her to play tournaments all over the world and play for Baylor University where she met Daniel. Theresa is so thankful for everything her “mamma” has done and sacrificed for her.
Monica de Jager
Sister of the Bride
Monica is the older sister of Theresa. She has been her support since Theresa (also known as Tessie growing up) was born and has been her rock throughout all her life. Both Monica and Julie have been her role models. Monica has a loving husband, Phillip, and two beautiful boys, Ruben and Heinrich. The De Jagers mean the world to Theresa and Daniel is excited to gain more family.
Julie Wiese
Sister of the Bride
Julie is the middle sister of Theresa and has been Tessie’s biggest support. Julie has been a rock for her and has always been by her side. Both Julie and Monica have been role models for Theresa. Julie has a loving husband, Werner, and three beautiful kids; Nathan, Sarah, and Annie. The Wiese family means the world to Theresa and Daniel is excited to gain more family.
David Barnett
Father of the Groom
David is the father of the groom and is a neurosurgeon based in Dallas, Texas. David has been a part of Daniel’s fondest memories whether it was fishing, hunting or enjoying the outdoors along side each other. Daniel has looked up to his dad in all stages of life and is very appreciative of everything his dad has done for him. He is very excited to share his special day with his father.
Holly Barnett
Mother of the Groom
Holly is the mother of the groom and has been the loving and supportive mom of both Daniel and his sister, Emily. Throughout his life, Holly has always been Daniel’s biggest advocate and has supporter thought out all his endeavors. Daniel is very thankful for the role his mom has played in his life.
Wendell Barnett (Popi)
Groom’s Grandfather
Popi is the grandfather of Daniel and has been a strong role model for him growing up. Despite Daniel’s questionable athletic abilities, Popi was always near the side lines supporting and cheering Daniel on. He also joined Daniel and his cousin on their travels. Popi has also inspired Daniel to be a better storyteller.
Judith Barnett (Gacky)
Groom’s Grandmother
Gacky is the grandmother of Daniel and has been a positive influence in his life. Growing up she and Popi would take Daniel and his cousin Matthew on many adventures such as traveling to Costa Rica and visiting LEGOLand numerous times. She also taught Daniel how to be an expert gingerbread house maker.
Laura Thomson
Groom’s Grandmother
Laura is the grandmother of Daniel and the adopted grandmother of Theresa. Having grown up on the Hart Ranch, she is tough yet always have been loving and caring. She knows her way around a shotgun and has a very social kitty named B.C.
Emily Moore
Matron of Honor
Emily is the sister of Daniel and is married to Benson. Emily has always been the supportive older sister that Daniel could depend on. She means the world to Daniel and Theresa is excited to be gaining another sister.
Benson Moore
Groomsman
Benson is the brother-in-law of Daniel. Daniel first met Benson in High School and played sports along side each other. Daniel is grateful to have Benson be part of the family and supportive of his sister, Emily. Benson is currently serving as an Apache helicopter pilot. We are thankful for his service.
Matthew Hall
Groomsman
Matthew is the cousin of the groom. Ever since they were kids, Mathew and Daniel shared many adventures and have been a part of many mischievous acts. He and Daniel has had good laughs over the years and shared several stories along the way. Matthew graduated from University of Texas and is currently studying to get his master’s degree in biomedical engineering.
Jazzi Plews
Bridesmaid
Jazzi has been a close friend of Theresa’s and her friendship is cherished a lot. It all started on the Baylor women’s tennis team where they were teammates, they then became roommates, and ultimately best friends. She is from Yorkshire, England, and has a great sense of humor. Not a day goes by without some laughter going on. Theresa cherishes all their college memories together and adventures they went on. Jazzi is a ray of sunshine and always puts a smile on everyone’s face. Jazzi is working for a company in London and doing great things.
Jessica Hinojosa
Bridesmaid
Jessica is a dear friend to Theresa. They first met on the Baylor women’s tennis team and became each other’s supporters and cheerleaders through all the practices, matches, and hard work-outs. Theresa loved playing next to her and cherishes all the locker room comradery. Jessica has been an incredible friend and she cherishes all the adventures, memories, girls’ trips they have been on. Jessica is from Guadalajara, Mexico and is a professional tennis player. We wish her all the best for her upcoming tournaments. Always Sic’Em!
Sedi Jacobs
Bridesmaid
Sedi is an incredible friend to Theresa. They first met at a local tennis tournament at the age of 6 years in Keetmanshoop, Namibia. Never did they imagine they would both travel the world together to play tennis tournaments, practice with each other, play hard-fought competitive matches against each other, be each other’s cheerleaders on the court, and most importantly be great friends off the court. From the tennis academy in South Africa to their time together at the tennis center in Morocco to tournaments all over Europe and America, they have remained close friends. Sedi is playing her senior year tennis season at Florida State University and studying for her MBA degree. Go Noles!
Bethany Neider
Bridesmaid
Bethany is a dear friend and has been there since the beginning of Daniel and Theresa’s story. She is married to Clayton Neider, one of Daniel’s great friends. Bethany and Theresa have shared many memories from adventures at Baylor, sitting in hunting blinds at the Hart ranch (let’s just say no hunting was happening as the deer would have heard their chat from a mile away) while the guys went out to do some real hunting, and to adventures on Possum Kingdom Lake. Daniel and Theresa were very excited and honored to celebrate Bethany and Clayton’s special day with them as they entered into a new chapter of life.
Lynn Kiro
Bridesmaid
Lynn has been one of Theresa’s closest friends. They first met when they were twelve years old at a tennis tournament in Cape Town. They have shared many memories on and off the court from the tennis center in South Africa where they both trained, tennis tournaments in Europe and North Africa, and college adventures. Lynn is a Texas Tech grad where she played for the women’s tennis team. They have played numerous hard fought completive matches against each other through out their tennis journeys and have remained close friends off the court. Lynn is a director of a well-known tennis club in New Jersey and loves to play paddle tennis and pickleball.
Louis Baresh
Best Man
Louis is the best man and has been a life long friend of Daniel ever since they were little. Daniel first met Louis at elementary school in the first grade and shared many bike rides and other experiences growing up. Daniel and Louis have always stayed in close contact with each other and he is very excited to have Louis stand by him on his big day.
Clayton Neider
Groomsman
Daniel and Clayton first met at Baylor University during their freshman year as they shared the same dorm. The famous Martin dorms. In their graduate year, Clayton played a vital role for setting Daniel and Theresa up. Clayton is cooking the books in his finance role at a prestigious company in Dallas.
Josh Sommerhalder
Groomsman
Josh is a groomsman and Daniel first met Josh through a mutual friend at Baylor University. Josh is talented chef and cooked Daniel and his roommates countless meals. Daniel and Josh spent a week long hunting trip in New Mexico going after the elusive Black Bear with no success after many long days. Josh is currently cyber hacking away at a well-known defense firm. Just kidding, he is a vital part of his Company.
Isaac Cuellar

Isaac is a fellow Baylor Bear and they first met during their freshman year. Ever since, they have been going on numerous adventures from hunting and fishing in Oklahoma and Arkansas to duck hunting at the Hart ranch. Daniel and Isaac made many trips grabbing a double meat double cheese burger and shared many laughs as roommates in Waco.
Connor Nance
Groomsman
Connor is a groomsman and lived a few doors down from Daniel in their freshman year dorm. Together, Daniel and Connor grinded over many Baylor Business classes such as accounting and finance. To escape the grind, they made many hunting trips during the weekends with other Baylor friends. Connor is currently working at a well known bank down in Houston.
Chess Patterson
Groomsman
Daniel first met Chess in the famous Martin dorms. During their time at Baylor, they raised many shenanigans and both equally enjoyed weekend trips outside Waco. They also had many heated debates over ranching and farming techniques. Currently, Chess lives in Waco where is he closing some deals.
Gunner Teaster
Groomsman
Gunner is a groomsman and they first met each other in the 6th grade. Growing up they played sports together and enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. Gunner is also a Baylor Bear and in college, Daniel and Gunner enjoyed duck hunting during the weekends. Gunner is currently closing deals at a well-known real estate firm in Dallas where he is working at.
Matt Skinner
Groomsman
Matt is a groomsman and they first met at Baylor University during the accounting grad program. They slaved many hours in the library studying for their accounting tests. They also went on a camping trip with Clayton to Big Bend where they hiked many miles and drank a few beers under the night sky. Matt is a coworker of Daniel’s at their favorite accounting firm.
Matt Cooper
Groomsman
Matt is a fellow Baylor Bear and also graduated from the Accounting Department. Matt was Daniel’s roommate in grad year of college and they both liked sitting on the balcony conversing about life. Both Matt and Daniel went on a mission trip to Uganda with the Baylor Accounting group where they taught young entrepreneurs business skills. Matt has the moves on the dance floor.
