Grand Rapids is a two hour drive to Traverse City, but their airport sometimes has cheaper flights than the Traverse City airport.

S.S. Badger

For those who are driving from Minnesota, a fun way to travel over to Traverse City is the S.S. Badger, a car ferry that crosses Lake Michigan! The ferry takes about 4 hours, so it cuts out 4 hours of driving. You can relax on the ferry, walk around, and enjoy the views of this amazing Great Lake! It departs from Manitowoc, WI and arrives in Ludington, MI which is about a two hour drive from Traverse City.
