We met at a lock and key party. It was a speed dating event where the guys had keys and the girls had locks. It was meant to be kind of an ice breaker and if you made a lock and key match you got a free entry to another event. It was an interesting night, most of the guys were sitting at a table together, only leaving to try and find a lock. I had talked to a few guys but no real connections, and was feeling a little over it. I had gone with my friend Monica from church and she was talking with a guy so I didn't want to interrupt. I looked over and saw Steve sitting off by himself near a window looking at his phone. I thought to myself, "He looks cute, and fairly normal." So I walked over and started talking to him. We ended up talking most of the night. He eventually got up and excused himself, he told me later so that he didn't monopolize my time. So he left and a guy who had clearly been drinking came over and started talking to me until the event ended. Monica was still talking to the same guy, and Steve was standing there with them. Turns out he had come with his friend Jason, who Monica had been talking to. I came over to see if Monica was ready to go and Steve said something like it was nice to talk to you, and asked me if I wanted his name and number. I said yes, he gave me his whole name so that I could google him. I did not google him, but I did text him the next day and he called me back shortly after. We made plans to meet the next day for dinner, and then kept making plans from then on.
