ISLAND LOGISTICS

Martha's Vineyard is a very special place to both of us & we are so grateful to each and every one making the journey to celebrate with us! Please be aware that while the summer season may be winding down, September is still a busy time on the island. As such, we cannot stress enough the importance of making your arrangements as soon as possible. If you would like to be close to the wedding venue for the weekend, we recommend staying in Aquinnah or Chilmark. If not, we recommend staying in Oak Bluffs, which will also be the location of our wedding transportation pickup point. Edgartown and Vineyard Haven also have a high number of accommodations but keep in mind their distance from Vanderhoop Homestead. We are planning an afternoon ceremony followed by reception for those hoping to travel just for the day. You can take the boat in the morning, catch the ceremony, eat, party, and get the evening boat back home. In our experience having your vehicle while visiting proves very useful but there are also taxis/Ubers. We want this to be a fun & relaxing experience for all! Please reach out to us with any questions!

By Sea

The Steamship Authority is the largest ferry service to Martha’s Vineyard from Cape Cod, and departs from Woods Hole. They offer the lowest fares and the most frequent departures. Advance reservations are required for all vehicle travel. If you plan on bringing your vehicle, please book your reservations in advance, as spaces are limited (reservations are now live). If you are planning to "walk on" to the island (i.e., arrive without a vehicle), you can purchase tickets day-of at the ticketing office. You can check the Steamship's website for updates on parking in Woods Hole (either in the Palmer Ave or Thomas Landers lot and take a Steamship Authority bus from the lot to the ferry). Getting around the Island

If you are planning to bring your car onto the island, we recommend making your reservation ahead of time. Vineyard car reservations tend to fill up quickly as the Steamship Authority is the only ferry that allows for cars. Car rentals are available on the island, though we recommend booking in advance if you would like to rent something while on the island. You can pick up cars from various companies in Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven, or at the airport. The Vineyard Transit Authority provides year-round public transit bus and para-transit services on the Island of Martha's Vineyard. The bus fares can be paid using exact change (no change is given by the bus operator but they will give you a card worth the value of any overpayment for use on a future trip) or by downloading their app, VTA Pay, from the app store. Check out the website for more accurate fare information. https://www.vineyardtransit.com Cab Information Bluefish Taxi (508) 627-7373 Martha's Vineyard Taxi Co. Getting to the Venue

Please note that our wedding venue is all the way up island, and while that means you'll get the opportunity to see a stunning part of Martha's Vineyard, it is important to reiterate how remote this area is. For guidance, the Vanderhoop Homestead is roughly a 40-45 minute drive from the the ferry. As such, travel to this location requires a different level of coordination and preparation so that guests arrive on time and return safely home following the festivities. We have arranged for transportation to and from the Oak Bluffs pickup location at Summercamp. If you are planning to use our arranged transportation, please let us know in your RSVP as it will help us determine how many vehicles we will need.

House Or Rental

Housing for the Weekend

Whether you prefer the amenities of a hotel or the solitude of a private home, there are many boutique hotels, inns, airbnb's, and rentals to choose from across the island. We have included our hotel block (Summercamp) as well as a few other hotel accomodations below. We recommend booking accommodations soon, as things book up quickly on the island! If you're planning to travel solo, we recommend staying at Summercamp or Mansion House hotels. If you're planning to come as a family or a larger group of 3+, it's more cost-effective to rent an AirBnB/Vrbo.
