A great walkable Mexican Farmer's Market to see the city and get some steps! The city closes down the street on Sunday mornings between 7am and 1pm and there are many shops that set up that morning! The couple will be at the main rotunda the morning after the wedding and hope to see you there!
For the hikers (and everyone else!), a beautiful park with many trails and sitting areas to enjoy the best views of the city and mountains. Take an Uber up to the park's entrance and explore one of the trails or go to the lookout where Kyle proposed! Make sure you get an entry ticket from the website before you go.
A favorite! Don't miss the outstanding Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, its entrance marked by Juan Soriano's gigantic black dove sculpture. Inside, its idiosyncratic spaces are filled with water and light, and major exhibitions (almost all temporary; the permanent collection is quite modest) of work by renowned contemporary Mexican and Latin American artists. English-language tours (free with admission) are offered by enthusiastic university student docents. MARCO also has fine gift shop and a good restaurant. Admission is free on Wednesdays.
We went here on a double date with Val's cousin Andrea and her boyfriend (now fiancé or husband [depending on when you read this]) and it is so much fun! You can ride around on bikes around this massive park that has markets and amusement rides - it is a great time for couples, groups, and families!
Blast Furnace No 3 in the former industrial site of the Parque Fundidora has been converted into Horno3, an exceptionally impressive high-tech, hands-on museum devoted to Mexico’s steel industry. Walk around the park before or after your visit!
This sleek modernist museum on the Plaza 400 Años presents an extensive but easily manageable chronological history of Mexico. In the heart of the museum there’s an Earth section, full of mounted animals and realistic-looking landscapes, representing Mexico's remarkable biodiversity. Signage is mostly in Spanish, though there are strategically placed screens with overviews in English. Free tours – in either language – can be arranged by phoning in advance. Entry is free on Tuesdays and Sundays. Admission also covers the Museo del Noreste, to which it's attached via a glass-enclosed bridge.
Our wedding will be happening during the winter soccer season of Liga MX. The Rayados are the team that Val's extended family cheers for during the season, so chances are there might be a game during the time of your stay that is not on one of the wedding event nights! Estadio Universitario is another option where the Tigres UANL team plays. Although they are the rival team to the Rayados, if there is not a game for the Rayados and you are a soccer fan/want the experience, we will give you a pass for this as well. You can find their schedule here: https://www.tigres.com.mx/en/tigres/calendar/
A mall across from the wedding venue that is filled with many shops and different activities. Also, if you accidentally forgot something in your travels to Monterrey, this might be a good place to look for what you need!
