Several months after my former Sea World co-worker, Amanda Reeves, moved to Chattanooga to work at the Tennessee Aquarium, I took a road trip to visit her. There is an event called "24 on Main" the first Saturday in December in downtown Chattanooga- it is 24 hours of activities, food and more. Amanda had asked if I would be interested in doing the Adult Big Wheel Race if she could find 2 guys to be on our team as all teams had to be 2 guys and 2 girls. I gave her a resounding YES! Before my arrival to Chattanooga, she contacted Zach to see if he and his brother, Ben, would be interested in being on our team. Amanda, Ben and Zach had met at a bar trivia night several weeks prior. On the day of the Big Wheel Race, the four of us met up and had time to come up with a team name to write on our shirts. We chose "I'm kind of a big wheel" (a play on words from a quote from the movie "Anchorman"), which Zach immediately messed up and accidentally wrote "deal" instead of wheel. I pointed out the error and he crossed it out and wrote "wheel" underneath it, and we all had a good laugh. We had a lot of fun cheering each other on in the race, and continued to hang out for a little bit afterwards. Zach and I exchanged numbers and had our first phone conversation several days after we met as I made the long drive from Chattanooga back to San Antonio. I was definitely intrigued- Zach was handsome, smart and could make me laugh! I liked his southern accent and how our conversations seemed so natural from the start. ~Valerie
