Slap's BBQ
KC is known for its barbecue and Slap's is one of the first spots that Jacob visited upon moving in 2021, a short drive from where he lived prior to moving to the Crossroads.
La Bodega
Southwest Boulevard has plenty of authentic Mexican options to choose from, but La Bo [as it is affectionately known as] sticks out as it is actually a Spanish tapas restaurant. Katy believes that the albondigas and sangria are musts when ordering!
The Majestic
The Majestic is a world class steakhouse in downtown Kansas City, offering live jazz up to five days a week. If you want to enjoy dinner and a show, be sure to reserve a table in the basement.
King G & Jim's Alley Bar
Just up the street from Jacob's first apartment, the couple spent many a nights at King G [so much so that for awhile he was no longer ID'd at the door]. Boasting a "marquee" menu of rotating taps and endless drink options, they also offer deli sandwiches if you get hungry. Jim's Alley bar is King G's sister and has a more laid back atmosphere, reminiscent of drinking in a parent's basement while growing up in the Midwest. Seating is limited so if you have more than six people, it may not be your best option. Look for the shuffleboard table!
Prime Social
A more upscale option on the Country Club Plaza, Prime Social is a hybrid indoor/outdoor bar that overlooks Kansas City's shopping district located in the heart of the city. Reservations are necessary and expect higher price point drinks.
The Levee
On the edge of Old Westport, the Levee is where we listened to live music with friends the first night we met. Fun fact: neither of us has been back since April 2023.
WWI Memorial & Union Station
Look up nearly anywhere downtown and you'll see the Liberty Memorial, just south of Power & Light. Take a walk and see one of the most scenic views in KC before heading down to Union Station to eat, drink, and activities for all ages.
Up-Down
Blow off some steam by hitting bumpers, putting up shots, or playing Galaga at this arcade bar in the Crossroads.
River Market
Take a stroll on the Berkley Waterfront walkway and see the KC Current stadium before swinging up to the farmers market on Saturday morning.
