Things To Do

Fifth Avenue

Calle Quinta Avenida, Playa del Carmen, Q.R., Mexico

We were in Mexico for a work event and loved 5th Avenue! It is cheap entertainment for an afternoon or evening. 5th avenue is a district of shopping just blocks from the beach. Here you can try local restauants and haggle with shop owners. There are great street entertainers and you see people from every corner of the world checking out the local scene. Please talk to the resorts concierge to utilize their shuttle services to get you there and back. We loved the night life but definetly not a place for kids after dark. We spent an evening at a small restaurant a block from the beach and had the best Mexican food of our lives here!! We sat there for hours just wating the crowds stroll through. Dessert at the restaurant consisted of cotton candy on a stick which we gave to the local homeless children across the street digging in the garbage dumpsters. The experience was authentic Mexico!!!!!

Tulum

Tulum, Q.R., Mexico

Visiting Tulum from our resort is an approximate 55 minute drive each way. Tulum is home of preserved ruins of ancient Mayan cultures, great for any history buffs. It is a more secluded section of the Yucatan which is supposed to have great beaches and was our second wedding location pick but seemed a bit far from the airport.

Xplor Park

Xplor Park

This ziplining park is AMAZING!! We tried this with friends last spring and loved it. It had over 13 ziplines which took us hours to complete. It also had a beautiful underground river we swam in and rafted in, amphibious vehicles we all drove through the mud and a surprisingly delicious all you can eat buffet lunch. Wear your swimsuit and bring a change of clothes, you will be relatively wet all day which helps keep you cool. The excursion does require water shoes and if you don't bring your own can be expensive to purchase there. This activity will have you doing ALOT of stair climbing but worth every penny once you see the great views of Mexico from the top of the ziplines. We would definetly do this park again
