Question

I've never been to a Catholic Mass or Wedding Ceremony before. What should I expect?

Answer

First off, we're so excited to welcome you to our wedding Mass! If at any point leading up to (or after!) our wedding, you'd like to attend Mass with us to know what to expect, we would love it! It will be about an hour long & the Catholic stereotype of sitting, standing, kneeling, sitting again, kneeling again is 100% accurate, so plan your wardrobe accordingly. :) After the Bridal party precesses in, we will sit & listen to readings chosen by Cecilia & Tyler (one Old Testament, one New Testament, & one Gospel reading). After this, the exchange of vows will take place, followed by the consecration of the host and Holy Communion. Please note, while only Catholics are allowed to receive the Holy Eucharist, non-Catholics are very welcome (& encouraged!) to come forward with their arms crossed over their chest in an X shape to receive a blessing from the priest (the X arm shape lets him know not to accidentally give you communion). Still have questions? We'd love to hear 'em!
