Roche Harbor is a small harbor on San Juan Island, which is a part of a group of islands called "The San Juan Islands." These islands are in the Puget Sound, Northwest of Seattle, accessible by private boat, public or private plane, and most commonly, ferry boats departing from Anacortes. Anacortes is roughly an hour and a half north of Seattle, but beware of bad traffic especially around rush hour.
San Juan Island can only be accessed by ferry or sea plane. See "Travel" tab for more details and make your travel plans in advance.
It takes around 2 hours to drive to Anacortes (ferry terminal) and 1.5 hours to catch and ride the ferry to San Juan Island. Make sure to get to Anacortes at least 30 minutes before your ferry departs if you make a car reservation for the ferry: https://www.visitsanjuans.com/transportation/washington-state-ferries It takes 45 minutes to travel from Seattle by seaplane. See "Travel" tab for more details.
If you are taking a car on the ferry, yes (be sure to make a reservation for the ride there and back!). If you are walking on you do not need to make a reservation. There is parking in Anacortes where you can leave your car. If you are taking the San Juan Clipper, you will need to buy a ticket.
Assuming most will drive/take the ferry once in Seattle, we are all held to the ferry schedule. The ferry to/from Anacortes only comes a few times per day so missing the ferry could risk missing part of the wedding if you plan on arriving day-of. For those flying in to Seattle, please take any close connection times to the ferry departing into consideration (a rule of thumb is the earlier the flight departs in the morning, the less likely it is to be delayed). We recommend making a ferry reservation, and hope most are able to join us the evening before, Sunday 7/14/2019. The wedding will be on Monday 7/15/2019 at 4pm. A cocktail hour and reception will follow immediately after and is only a short walk from the ceremony.
We love your kids and they are certainly welcome! Please make sure to include them in your RSVP so we can plan food accordingly. We know some people are considering bringing along a family member or sitter to help out, and allow you to enjoy the party past the kiddo bedtime. We think this is a great idea because we want you to stay late and enjoy the dance party with us!
We are registered right here at Zola. We are very fortunate to have all the material things we need. What we value most in life are experiences. If you would like to give a gift, please consider contributing to a honeymoon experience via our Registry page.
We encourage everyone to stay at least Sunday and Monday nights. This will both allow you to have a more relaxed travel timeline, and will give us all more quality time to spend together over the weekend. We will have something planned for everyone who will be on the island Sunday evening - TBD depending on how many people will be there so please let us know what day you are arriving in your RSVP so we can plan accordingly. There is a whale watching tour leaving from Roche Harbor on Tuesday, if you would like to join it is $100 a person.
The ceremony will be outdoors (whether permitting). Should be sunny and in the 70s or 80s but it's always smart to plan for potential rain in the PNW.
