Portland International Airport (PDX) will be your best airport. It is about an hour away from Hood River. It has public transportation (MAX train and buses) if you are planning to use that.
That depends! Hood River is a very easy drive from Portland, but if you plan to stay later into the night or do not want the hour drive back to the city after the wedding, then we recommend staying close in the Hood River area.
Because it is a Sunday and we recognize that our local friends may be going to work or may have children going to school on Monday, we plan to have a lot of the "classic wedding festivities" wrapped up around 8pm. After that, we plan to dance and continue the celebration until 10 or 11 pm (we have an outdoor sound restriction at 10 pm).
Ultimately, we want YOU at our celebration in whatever makes you feel best! If you'd like some dress guidance, the vibe will be cocktail, and we encourage bright summer colors. Think wildflowers! The patio is made of pavers, so we also recommend wearing heels that will be comfortable on this texture such as chunky heels or wedges.
Oregon in the summer is very dry and mild. It is a dual indoor/outdoor space in case of bad weather or smoke (this is Oregon), but we are hoping for the best! This time of the year usually sits around the mid 70s-low 80s during the day, although there CAN be wild swings either way. In the evening, the temperatures can drop to the 60s, so we recommend packing a light shawl or cover just in case if we do get one of these beautifully cool Oregon summer evenings.
