Travel Note
There are 3 major airports serving the NYC area (JFK, La Guardia, Newark). Note that JFK is the farthest from Manhattan - it does offer the bonus of fixed rate cab prices (~100 after tolls and tip). La Guardia is by far the easiest airport to fly into and then travel to Manhattan. It is not served by a subway but the buses are reasonably easy to use and/or cab fare will run ~$75 after tip and tolls. Newark is increasingly accessible but plan for it to take around an hour: travel will require taking the AirTrain to the New Jersey Path into Penn Station, where you can pick up the subway. A cab will run ~$120. For those interested in public transport, the subways no longer require a metrocard. OMNY is the easiest way to pay for transit - you will need a tap credit card or have a credit card connected to your phone. If you really want to make your life easy (and not have to open your wallet app) you can set up a "transit card" (apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/105123 android: https://support.google.com/wallet/answer/12059518?hl=en) For those planning to use ride share or taxi service, yellow cab is the way to go in NYC inside of Manhattan. Uber/Lyft are nearly always more expensive by a relatively significant degree. The Curb app will allow you to book yellow cabs the same way you do an Uber/Lyft. Alternatively, you can try your hand at hailing a cab - just note that the only cabs that you can hail are those with the top light TURNED ON - turned off means occupied. Regardless of which travel you take - do not engage crazy (the best option is always avert your eyes or if asked directly a short "no, I'm sorry" generally works) and never take a pedicab. If you do, you can't say you weren't warned. Hotel blocks are not possible in NYC. Instead, our strongest recommendation is book early and plan ahead. The hotels below are in proximity of our apartment and/or have already been booked by close family members, so you will be guaranteed to be near someone!
Hotel
This option is near our apartment and splits the difference between our venues. Mariah's parents will be staying here. A note that the Hotel Beacon sits on top of the Beacon theater. In general, the hotel receives very high ratings and is not listed as loud. If you come back to the hotel between 6-7 pm though, you will be fighting a line waiting for whatever show is on at the Beacon theater.

This option is near our apartment and splits the difference between our venues. This hotel is child and pet friendly, but the main floor does become a jazz bar at night - super cool for those interested in such an option, less cool for those who don't want to walk into a jazz bar in order to get to their hotel room after a long day.

This option is close to the Cathedral. It is another option that is more affordable if booked well in advance.

This option is in the thick of things, for those who want to be near Times Square and other tourist destinations.
