Question

Where is the wedding taking place? When am I supposed to be there again?Where is the wedding taking place? When am I supposed to be there again?

Answer

Our ceremony is being held at Cathedral of St. John the Divine (1047 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY 10025) at 2:00 pm. Please arrive no later than 1:50 to find a seat. If you are late you will be asked to wait until the processional has finished before you are allowed entry. The reception is being held at City Vineyard (233 West Street, New York, NY 10013) beginning at 5:00 PM. We have purposely built in an hour and a half for travel between venues. If you arrive before 5:00 pm at City Vineyard, you may be put to work putting decorations on tables :)

Question

Is there a dress code?Is there a dress code?

Answer

Our dress code is flexible given that it is New York City in the summer. Our ceremony will be semi-formal to garden attire (think elevated but comfortable: sun dresses, light suits). The Cathedral is indoors but there is NO AIR CONDITIONING, so please dress (and prepare) accordingly. Our reception venue will also be indoor/outdoor with air flow off the river and provided by fans. Please no cut offs or anything else you might find at the pool - you will be sad wearing flip flops on NYC streets.

Question

What weather should I expect? What weather should I expect?

Answer

New York City in the summer is ... hot. But also unpredictable. Be comfortable, bring a small fan, giggle when we are all a little sweaty. Where's the fun if we aren't getting to know each other too well?

Question

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors? Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The Cathedral is indoors but there is NO AIR CONDITIONING, so please dress (and prepare) accordingly. Our reception venue will also be indoor/outdoor with air flow off the river and provided by fans.

Question

What should I expect after the ceremony? What should I expect after the ceremony?

Answer

We expect that the ceremony should finish no later than 3:30 pm, leaving guests about an hour and a half for travel between venues. Please know that if you arrive before 5:00 pm at City Vineyard, you may be put to work putting decorations on tables :) If you want to avoid being drafted, you are welcome to sit inside at the bar or find another cute bar in the area (there are many. We can personally vouch for Greenwich Street Tavern [399 Greenwich St New York, NY 10013] for cheap drinks and a great happy hour menu). Snacks and an open bar at City Vineyard will be available beginning at 5:00 pm. Dinner will be served around 6:30 pm. Between the ceremony and the reception, we expect that the wedding party will be taking pictures for around an hour. Family pictures will all happen at the reception venue so do not feel that you need to hang around the cathedral after the ceremony unless you have received specific instructions otherwise.

Question

Is there transportation from the ceremony to the reception venue? Is there transportation from the ceremony to the reception venue?

Answer

We will not be providing transportation from the ceremony to the reception venue. There are several options: 1) Public Transport - the 1 train TOWARD SOUTH FERRY from 110 (one block west from the front doors of the Cathedral) to Franklin Street. Walk straight west, until you hit the Hudson River. The restaurant is tucked in behind the playground and dog park. This is about a 45 minute trip and a straight shot! By far the easiest option! 2) Taxi or ride share: picking up a taxi on Broadway is generally easier than on Amsterdam or 110. It's about a 30 minute ride downtown by cab. If you want to avoid surge pricing use the Curb app (NYC taxi app) or schedule ahead on Uber/Lyft. 3) Take a City Bike - pick one up on 110th and Amsterdam, ride south on the river to north Moore and Greenwich Streets. Keep in mind the Hudson river is an easier (and safer) ride than trying to navigate city traffic. Please be safe! This will take about 36 minutes.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception? Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

There is not widely available, easily accessible parking near the venues. There are paid parking garages in the neighborhood(s) but public transport or taxi is the way to go! Please see the travel tab for more information.

Question

Can I bring a date?Can I bring a date?

Answer

Please check your invitation. Our guest list is limited by the venue size so please do not invite unexpected extras.

Question

Are kids welcome?Are kids welcome?

Answer

We are welcoming children of immediate family members and wedding party. If you are unsure please ask! We will note that as much as we love all your little ones, our ceremony and reception may not cater to the most rambunctious. Please be prepared - we expect our ceremony to run between an hour and an hour and a half with few breaks or escape hatches. Similarly, our reception venue is a wine bar at it's core and does not on its face cater well to children. There may be children's food options available for purchase through the restaurant. There is a huge playground next door that is not affiliated with our venue. For parents who want to be present but bring kids along, there are several care agencies that will provide care in your hotel that we've heard wonderful things about (e.g., care.com).

Question

Are there other wedding events that I can attend? Are there other wedding events that I can attend?

Answer

Absolutely but none that are being formally planned :) Please reach out to any member of the wedding party for information about plans for a night before happy hour, after party, and/or Saturday morning breakfast/brunch

Question

How do I RSVP?How do I RSVP?

Answer

If you've found this question, you've probably found the RSVP, but if not you can either use the QR code on your wedding invitation, select the "RSVP" tab on this website, or click the RSVP button on the home page of this website. We ask that you please respond by June 1 so that we can plan food and drinks accordingly with our venue. If you do not RSVP by June 1, you will be harassed for your response until June 15 - if we still can not get a hold of you to determine your plans we may not be able to hold a place for you at the table.

Question

When is the RSVP deadline? When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

If you do not RSVP by June 1, you will be harassed for your response until June 15 - if we still can not get a hold of you to determine your plans we may not be able to hold a place for you at the table.

Question

Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?

Answer

Hotel blocks are not possible in NYC. Instead, our strongest recommendation is book early and plan ahead. The hotels listed on the travel page of this website are in proximity of our apartment and/or have already been booked by close family members, so you will be guaranteed to be near someone! Please see the travel tab of this website for more information.

Question

Will there be an open bar? Will there be an open bar?

Answer

There will be an open bar from 5:00pm - 9:00pm at City Vineyard.

Question

Are you registered?Are you registered?

Answer

Please know that gifts are not necessary nor are they expected. We know traveling to NYC is expensive and we are thrilled that you will share your presence with us. For those who still wish to purchase gifts, please see the registry tab of this website.

Question

Can I take and post photos to social media? Can I take and post photos to social media?

Answer

We love photos and cannot wait to see all of your amateur photography skills! We ask that you refrain from taking photos during the ceremony - we would like for everyone to be present during the service. We have hired an incredible photographer and will be happy to share her photos with you all. For the rest of the wedding, we encourage guests to take as many photos as they wish and share them widely - we'd love to see them too! Trent is on social media and Mariah will steal his phone :)

Question

Who took your pictures??Who took your pictures??

Answer

Felicia is a Kansas City based photographer who used to live on the Upper West Side and came incredibly highly recommended. Her work speaks for itself! You can find her at: https://feliciathephotographer.com/
