Wedding Party

Sarah Beck

Maid of Honor

My sister and best bud. She's been there for me from day 1 of my existence. Enough said.

Zara Lukens

Bridesmaid

Best Bro, dating back to 3rd grade. Our friendship got me through the awkward days of middle school, the sleep-deprived high school IB years, and the heartbreaks and tribulations of college and young adulthood. In 7th and 8th grade we used to coordinate our outfits and once dressed up as cowboys, complete with matching overalls, hats and brown Crayola marker beards (we always knew what was cool). Not much has changed since then.

Lars Stiglich

Bridesmaid

Lars and I became friends in IB Biology and bonded over pig dissections and lab reports, German class with Herr Lorentzen, and a mutual love for rowing. She's been with me through it all- school dances, relationship drama, regattas, study abroad semesters, freezing cold backpacking trips, and obligatory costumed 80s dance parties. Once I tried to kill us from hypothermia when I crashed our double scull into a log on Vancouver Lake in the middle of winter.

Lisa Grove

Bridesmaid

I met Lisa in geometry class freshman year of high school. She shared her Oatmeal Squares with me and I my apple slices with her and we've been buds and hiking partners ever since! Sometimes I take advantage of being friends with a doctor; Lisa has removed both of my big toenails for me.

Joyce Peng

Bridesmaid

Joyce and I found each other on the first day of 2nd grade when our moms pushed us 2 shy little nerds together. Countless giddy hours were spent obsessing over bookmarks, boys, fortune tellers, Magic School Bus, Backstreet Boys and Harry Potter. We developed our own patent bubble solution, attended Chinese school together, started a decade-long pen-pal-ship when Joyce moved to California in 5th grade and planned our futures together in the giant "Rainbow House" commune, where we would all live together with our friends and dogs (husbands in a separate wing) .

Micaela Marker

Bridesmaid

Micaela and I met when we started work at the Barbara Davis Center diabetes clinic at the same time in 2016. Within a half hour of meeting, we had planned a hike together for the very next day, and we've been friends ever since. A couple relocations and babies later, she's still my go-to Colorado hiking and winter sports pal. I'm obsessed with her dog Rocket, and Micaela provides us with her emergency medical services for free, including removing my toenails and advising on Travis' anaphylactic reactions.

Paige Steiner

Bridesmaid

I met Paige at diabetes camp in 2017 when we were thrown in the deep-end together and put in charge of the nutrition team. We soon realized that we were both huge dorks and shared a love for making and eating food, spreading Christmas cheer, and gross medical conditions. We've rendezvoused for adventures together all over the country, and Paige, too, has taken a scalpel to my foot once or twice and has used her medical training to bandage my infected wounds.

Irena Neffeova

Bridesmaid

I met Irena my freshman year of college when she lived across the hall from me in the same dorm. Both members of the WSU rowing team, Irena was nice to me even though she was an elite rower recruited from the Czech Republic on a full-ride rowing scholarship, and I was a mediocre walk-on athlete. We lived together off campus for 2 years and I visited her twice in Prague. Irena's friendship, humor, and of course banana bread muffins got me through 4 exhausting years of college athletics, late-night studying, erg tests, and the ups and downs of dating. Irena once hid in my dark bedroom after we watched Blair Witch Project together to scare me, and I had to sleep with the lights on for the rest of the week.

Katie Bergstrom

Bridesmaid

Katie and I attended the same high school, but didn't become friends until a WSU Honors College trip to NYC when we were assigned to Estonia's United Nations ECOSOC committee together. We later relocated to Houston around the same time and cemented our friendship over kickball leagues, Mariners games, rodeos, Halloween parties and sweltering Texas days spent on pontoon boats. We bonded over our shared Pacific Northwest roots and liberal proclivities, and were often each other's shoulder to cry on through the ups and downs of early adulthood.
