As soon as you can!! We really need a count for seats on the raft trip. Ultimate deadline to RSVP is May 1st. Thanks!!
To give all our guests the opportunity to let their hair down and have a good time without having to worry about their little ones, we politely request no children for the wedding ceremony and reception. Bring 'em out on Friday night and run them around at the cookout, though!!
We will provide transportation from Riverside Park in downtown Salida to and from the Friday night Paartaay and the Ceremony on Saturday. Meet in the park on E. Sackett Ave. by the playground. The reception will be held at Seasons Cafe in downtown Salida and we recommend walking home from the party. Travel will be provided to and from the Friday night Paartaay between Riverside Park and Independent Whitewater in two shifts starting from 4:30 to 6:00 pm and again from 9:00 to 10:30 pm. Please utilize the shuttles as parking will be limited and getting back to your vehicle could get complicated. We will not be providing transportation to and from any airport. If you plan to camp, you will need to make arrangements to and from downtown Salida.
Dinner will be provided on Friday night (fajitas, rice, guac, etc.), snacks on the boats after the ceremony, and a buffet-style dinner at the reception. Sunday brunch will be a lovely lox and bagel spread. Drinks will be plentiful at each, so please don't bring additional (unless you have leftovers on Sunday morning!!). We will have veggie, dairy free and gluten free options at each but please specify on the RSVP so we don't accidentally poison you . . .
Attire for the wedding is nice casual (caveat: 6 mi river float!). Although the river will be tame through this section, splashes may occur. Khakis, slacks, nice shorts, button ups/polos, skirts, sundresses, rompers . . . basically look nice but be prepared to be active. If I were coming as a guest, I'd wear a nice pair of khaki or board shorts, river tennies, a fun button-up shirt, suspenders and bow-tie!. Good shoe choice is important as the ground surfaces will range from uneven soil to river rock to concrete/hardwood. There will be limited room and transportation available for shoes, purses, etc. that need to skip the river trip (like almost zero room. If you don't need it, please don't bring it or be prepared to pick it up from I-Dub on Sunday). That said, everyone must have shoes to get on the boats (sandals, river shoes, tennies). We will have dry bag space for cell phones on the rafts if needed. Be creative and have fun with your outfits!!
Yesss!! If there's still water in the river, it's on! The ceremony will take place 6 river miles upstream from Salida and our reception. It's going to be so much fun to raft down to the reception and take in the sights of the Arkansas River valley with all our nearest and dearest! Safety first, we will all be wearing PFDs (life jackets) that will be provided. Other considerations include river appropriate footwear, hydration, sun protection, and making room for more liquids (there's only the river or a gravel beach while we're on the water, no bathrooms). Depending on water level, the float could take between 2-3 hours.
I know this seems a little common sense but I've been hearing several rumors of uncounted guests potentially showing up as dates of those invited. This will prove bad for everyone as food, beverage, transportation and raft seats have only been acquired for those who are counted on the RSVP. Believe me, we really wish we could have invited everyone, their Tinder date, best friend, and second uncle that has really great "pull my finger" jokes, but unfortunately we don't have the budget for that event. . . We were, however, able to carefully invite a great mix of our friends and family and include more of the people we really, really want at our celebration by not giving +1s. Trust us, you will have plenty of close friends to hang out with and you will meet plenty of new ones at our wedding!! Thanks so much for understanding!!
