Our story begins in 2017, when we met on the dating app, Coffee Meets Bagel (which is ironic because while Brittney loves both coffee and bagels, Mike doesn't care for either). After exchanging many texts about our everyday lives, families, and commonalities, we decided to take our virtual conversations to a real date - our first date in Redondo Beach at Dominique's. A fun first date led to many others, and eventually our relationship bloomed to the point where we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.
Mike had dropped many hints in the months and weeks leading up to the proposal, his excitement overflowing. The week leading up to the proposal, he asked Brittney to wrap up work early on Friday, November 15, for a special date. He picked her up and drove her to Manhattan Beach for a walk along the beach to watch the sunset. As they walked along the shore, Mike pointed to the sunset behind the Manhattan Beach Pier and suggested Brittney take a photo of it. Brittney stopped to do so, but nothing happened. They kept walking, and Brittney had felt a little discouraged and disappointed and resolved the proposal wasn't going to happen, so decided to stop to take another photo behind her. The next thing she knew, she heard "Brittney, will you marry me?" uttered quickly from her side. She turned to find Mike on one knee with the ring box in hand. Of course, she said "yes". The proposal was not without flaws - Brittney's parents were hiding in a lifeguard tower with a zoom lens to take pictures of the proposal. Mike and the Maderas planned for Mike to be a lot closer for the photo opportunity, but Mike jumped the gun a little bit. Fortunately there was a kind couple on the beach witnessing what was about to happen, and they took pictures of the moment and shared them with us. But it was perfect for Mike and Brittney, who are so excited to spend the rest of their life together - flaws and all.
