During the quarantine-filled year of 2020, when many plans and trips were thwarted by the worldwide pandemic, we always had one trip marked on the calendar that we hoped we wouldn't have to cancel. That was a weeklong excursion to Olympic National Park in the pacific northwest with Taylor's parents. Once it looked promising, Tony decided this would be the perfect place to propose. With the ring hidden in Tony's backpack, we set out for our first hike of the vacation. Over 3 miles and 2,500 feet in elevation later we found ourselves overlooking the beautiful Lake Crescent. Sitting on a rock formation looking out at the crystal blue water with the sun shining, Tony knew he had found the right place. Now it was a matter of finding the perfect moment. Once we finished our packed lunch, Tony let Taylor get up first so he could grab the ring from his backpack while she walked over to the gorgeous view one last time. The area was finally clear of other hikers so Tony tapped Taylor on the shoulder and said he had one more thing to do before walking back down the mountain. That was when he got down on one knee, showed her the ring, and asked her to marry him. Taylor said "Yes," but the moment is a blur to her, so she takes Tony's word on what exactly was said up there. We then seemingly floated down the mountain extremely giddy to share the news. Two hours later we finally reached cell service and pulled over into a gas station to FaceTime Tony's parents. Once we got back to the condo, Taylor's parents, who knew all along, met us with champagne and dinner reservations. We then had a whole week in the park to celebrate, telling our big news to as many strangers who would listen. Now through June of 2022, we’ll be planning our special day, and we are thrilled to have you with us to celebrate.
