FAQs

Question

Why Corfu?

Answer

We wanted our wedding destination to have the following characteristics: 1. A place that we would want to visit again and again 2. A place our friends could look forward to a vacation 3. Logistically simple once you arrive (despite the connecting flight!) Greece is one of Ting and David's favorite countries to visit, and Ting first visited Corfu in 2017. We absolutely love how Corfu combines the lush greenery of the Italian coast with the blue waters and hospitality of Greece. We can't wait for you to see for yourselves! If you want some easy inspiration, the TV series "The Durrells in Corfu" (available free on Amazon Prime Video) is a semi-autobiographical comedy of the British novelist's life with his family on Corfu island.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

As soon as you feel comfortable. We will likely send another reminder in June when we are closer to doing final headcount.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We have accounted for individuals and couples in our headcount. If we have missed someone special or even a potential someone who would make your trip better, please message us and let us know as soon as possible!

Question

Are babies and kids welcome?

Answer

Short answer is yes. We trust you to decide whether you will have more fun with or without them. For the wedding and events at Villa Sylva, we are happy to provide a privacy room for any mothers and quiet room for napping. Please let us know directly and in your RSVP if you plan to bring baby or child!

Question

What is the dress code for the ceremony?

Answer

Black tie optional for a late summer wedding with an outdoor reception. Ladies: floor length dress or pant suit with shoes suitable for grass (we will provide heel covers). Men: Tux or formal suit with tie

Question

I'm going to be stopping by Athens before/after. Any recs?

Answer

A trip to Greece seems incomplete without a visit to the capital, especially if it's your first time. You can see the highlights of the city in as little as 36 hours, and it's anyway the best jumping off point to other areas and islands of Greece. The main tourist area called Plaka is right in the center of the city not far from the Acropolis. The Coco-Mat Athens is a great hotel near the Acropolis. The best gyros are at Kostas and we definitely recommend doing a hike to catch the sunset at the top of Mount Lycabettus. The surrounding neighborhood of Kolonaki is best for cute cafes and boutiques.

Question

Any travel recommendations for after the wedding?

Answer

YES! It has been our dream to plan a group trip in Greece for anyone who is down to explore and relax after our wedding. After all, we have dragged most of you halfway around the world! We will ourselves be spending time island hopping around Greece. If you are interested in joining us for anywhere between 2-7 days (around Sept 8-14), please message us at tinganddavid@gmail.com Greece Athens Riviera: the stretch of coast just south of Athens. 30 minutes from Athens, Astir is a beautiful peninsula complete with a swanky Four Seasons and Matsuhisa Athens (former Nobu) with an incredible view Piraeus: the main ferry port just outside of Athens with trips to all islands Saronic Islands: closest island chain to Athens and fewer tourists, recommend Hydra and Spetses Cyclades Islands: Santorini and Mykonos don't need an introduction. Naxos, Milos, and Paros offer other worldly landscapes and chill vibes Crete: Largest and southern most island in Greece, could spend a whole week here Mainland: Consider a roadtrip from Athens through mainland Greece - Delphi and the mountain monasteries at Meteora are well worth a visit. There are additional sites of classical antiquity throughout the Peloponnese peninsula. Italy, specifically the southeastern province (the heel of the boot) of Puglia - home to burrata and the Trulli huts of Alberobello (https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/787) are just across the Adriatic Sea.
