For those of you who arriving on Wednesday we suggest you take this day to rest and to get acclimated. For dinner, we recommend making a reservation at one of many restaurants in walking distance to the hotel. The hotel concierge can help with making suggestions and reservations. We will be at the Sky Bar on the roof of the hotel from 8pm-10pm to welcome you to the Algarve if you'd like to stop by. This is not an official event so no pressure at all to attend.

Seven Hanging Valleys Trail is one of the most breathtaking hikes in the Algarve. The 3.7 mile (6 km) route is known for its stunning views of the rugged coast, limestone cliffs, picturesque beaches, and natural caves. We'll pick up the trail just outside our hotel and then wind along the cliff on a well-defined path, traversing several hidden beaches before ending up at Marinha Beach - recently voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The trail's terrain is generally flat and so it will feel more like a long walk than a hike. Everyone will be able to go at their own pace, taking photos or ocean dips along the way. The route takes about 4 hours roundtrip to Marinah Beach. But many hikers may wish to take an Uber (15 min) back to the hotel - giving more time for sunbathing and exploring hidden caves around Marinha beach. Meet by pool on the lower level of the hotel at 8:15am.

Yemanja is the major water spirit from the Yoruba religion. She is the patron spirit of the fisherman, the feminine principle of creation and the spirit of moonlight. She is also the protector of women governing everything pertaining to women; parenting, child safety, love and healing. On New Year's Eve in Brazil, millions, dressed all in white, gather on beaches with offerings to Yemanja in hopes that she will grant them their request. Since learning about Yemanja in 1994 while in Brazil, I have brought her small offerings in hopes of finding true love. Now is my time to show my gratitude to her. If your interest is piqued, please join my sister-in-law Carolyn and me for a devotion to Yemanja. The ceremony will last approximately 10 minutes and will be seaside at the hotel. Just a 20 min short walk from the hotel or a 5 min Uber/taxi ride away. Join us for a casual dinner and drinks while enjoying beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Farol lighthouse during sunset. Dinner will be outdoors on the terrace so please dress appropriately for the cooler nighttime temperature. At 7pm, the Groom will give his toast to the Bride in accordance with Portuguese tradition.

The ceremony will be held inside of a charming 18th Century Medieval style Catholic church. The church is 25 min ride from the hotel and the shuttles will be leaving from the lobby of hotel promptly at 2:00pm. Transportation back to the hotel will commence following the ceremony. (N.B. This is a different church than is listed on your invitation. Construction around the original church made this pivot necessary)

The dinner portion of the reception will be held outdoors on the great lawn in the Ocean Garden area so please consider your shoe choice. Following the meal, we will move the party indoors to the Carvoeiro Room for dancing and celebrating until after midnight!
