FAQs

The Details! We reserved the Balch for 24 hrs, have rooms blocked for our guests only 10/3. They are available on a first come first serve basis though, so please book early. The Lyle is also highly recommended as a comparable lodging in era and style. Friday night a couple of drinks, dinner and dancing is on us. While we would love for you to stay a second night, if eating at the Balch is desired, you will need to make reservations for your party. Breakfast for Balch Guests is provided. The Hotel is an "Adult Refuge" . Without TV, modern sound proofing and antiques abounding they request only children age 10+ stay overnight. What you do in your room is up to you but outside wine and beer is not allowed. Please buy from the hotel if staying. It will support the local economy. We have a few events planned. Please RSVP so we know who and how many...however feel free to do your own thing all weekend! Just come hang with us some so we can enjoy your company.
Question

Are children allowed?

Answer

Children 10 years and older are allowed when accompanied by an adult. Per their website: "We respectfully require overnight guests be ages 10+. A lack of modern sound-proofing, absence of TVs, and priceless antiques make lodging with us most appropriate for older youth and adults."

Question

Accessibility

Answer

Please be aware that all guest rooms are accessed by 1 or 2 flights of stairs. We do not currently have an elevator, a complex engineering challenge for a historic landmark.

Question

Unplugged

Answer

Rooms are refreshingly tech-free (no phones, TVs), which extends to microwaves and fridges. We have great Wi-fi, however, and may allow use of a common fridge and microwave on request.

Question

Alcohol

Answer

What you do in your room is up to you but in common areas please purchase drinks from the Balch Dining Room.

Question

Shared Bathrooms

Answer

A few of the rooms have a private bath...most share a bath at the end of the hall.

Question

Do we need to pay for our own hotel booking at the Balch?

Answer

Yes! We have reserved the entire hotel for Friday night October 3rd so that the rooms will be available for our guests only. No other guests can book this date. The following night we have not reserved but encourage you to book a 2nd night so we can continue to enjoy the weekend together.

For all the days along the way
