4:00 pm - 10:00 pm
10/3: Drinks, dinner and dance: Please plan for cocktail attire with a vintage flair in keeping with the Hotel era. The air becomes chilly when the sun drops so please have a wrap/coat to remain comfortable outside.
Please be our guests and help us celebrate! 4-6pm: Welcome! Please join us for drinks on the lawn in the beautiful light of October as the sun sets! 6-8pm: Dinner on the lawn-the sun will be going down so wear something warm. 8-10Pm: Dance with us outside under a full moon!
8:00 am - 9:00 am
Please dress appropriately for outdoors-watch for updates, bring your yoga mat!
Dear friend Altine Roberts, a nurse and yoga instructor, has offered to lead morning Yoga on Saturday. The library can accommodate up to about 8 people. If more than 8 sign up we will have to move to the lawn which is just lovely! However, as it is October, the mornings are crisp and will require some bundling on your part until you warm up.
8:30 am - 10:00 am
Bring your bike!! Please wear bike and weather appropriate clothing, layers, bring water. It is cool in the morning but the hills are rolling and you will warm up quickly.
Those interested in taking a cycling tour through the surrounding rolling hills of Dufur Or. Please bring your bike, wear layers as the mornings are cool and meet at the front of the Hotel at 8:30am.
8:30 am - 10:00 am
11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Please dress in layers, appropriately for October weather as we will be outside at the winery.
Martin's Gorge Tours will provide a 5hr custom historic tour of the area with a visit to Stonehenge, Maryhill Museum and a final stop at Cascade Cliffs Winery and, time permitting, perhaps one additional stop to be announced on the day of. I have been a member of Cascade Cliffs Winery for about 17 years. They offer an outstanding selection of Italian varietals. The Martin's Gorge Tour is $135/ person. The Tour will depart the Balch Hotel at 11am and arrive at the winery around 2pm for a tasting of 1.5 hrs. If interested in purchasing, let me know. While the tasting is “free” it is with the expectation that enough wine will be purchased to cover tasting fees. I can use my membership for a discount :) Please bring a lunch. Sandwiches and snacks can be purchased from the Dufur Market Store/ Deli. If interested in the Gorge Tour, please contribute $135 on the Registry under "CASH" and I will make the necessary reservations.
2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Hoping the sun is out to enjoy some wine outside. Please dress in layers for the October weather.
The grounds are lovely, but a note from the manager: "October is crush at the winery, and it's almost impossible to predict which days fruit will be coming in and what type of activity will be going on. Which would be super cool for you and your guests to see. We do have outdoor seating, and hopefully the weather will be fine, as that sounds like a better option for you guys. October 4th is a Saturday and our busiest/most profitable day of the week. So if we have a large group at the winery, we have to make sure it adds to the overall success of the day and doesn't detract from other potential sales that day. There will be a Barbera/Piedmont Club pickup party that day, so it might be a bit hectic at the winery- which is fun in a way, but sometimes slows the service down a bit, as we are fairly small-staffed."
4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
We do not have the hotel "booked" for our guests this day but if interested in an afternoon meetup the hotel can serve beer, wine, and dinner with reservations to any one interested.
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Dinner - On Your Own
All guests interested in dinner at the hotel will need to make reservations.
