Our Love Story - Tim

When I woke up the morning of Wednesday, February 20th, 2019, I knew it was going to be a great day. My #3 ranked Tarheels were playing #1 ranked Duke at Cameron, always an exciting day for a UNC fan. I was planning to watch the game that night with a few of my fellow Tarheel fans (shout out Andrew Hurd and Brandon Smith). Before the game, I was also excited to grab drinks with a girl named Michelle Pounds who I was meeting for the first time. We met at Barcelona Wine Bar in Charlotte and sat down to have a glass of wine together. Safe to say I had no idea how much that night was going to change my life. We just clicked from the moment I met her. Neither of us wanted the night to end, so Michelle agreed to come join me to watch the UNC game (I had a feeling her agreeing to watch basketball and meet my friends on the first night was a good sign...). We swung by Andrew and Misty's place uptown to pick up Andrew and headed over to Plaza Midwood. After a great UNC win and a casual five hour long first date that we ended with a glass of wine by the fire at Workman's Friend (our favorite bar), I knew this was something special. Few things in life have been as much of a straight line for me as they have been with Michelle. For the past two and half years, I've fell more in love with her every day and am incredibly lucky she said yes to marrying me when I proposed at Stone Mountain on July 17th, 2020. We can't wait to celebrate with all of our family and friends in Wild Dunes this November!

Our Love Story - Michelle

On Wednesday, February 20th Tim and I met for the first time at Barcelona Wine Bar. We had planned on getting a glass of wine at the bar and then he had plans to watch the UNC/Duke game later that night (good out/exit plan was what I initially thought after having experienced a few not so pleasant drawn out cups of coffee). The place was packed! We chatted and ordered while we waited for two spots to open up. Turns out the people were probably leaving due to the company sitting next to them. This guy was crazy! He asked me if I was packing heat in my purse… Yes, I do look very threatening in my bow toed stilettos. Anyway, Tim handled the situation like a perfect (and sexy) gentleman. He grabbed my stool, pulled me in closer and boxed me out from the creeper. We had a great conversation and before we knew it, it was time for the game. I asked him where he was headed and he said to Plaza Midwood area. I told him I know the area well that it is where I lived. He invited me/I semi invited myself to join and as a College basketball fan, I of course accepted. You know the rest of the story from Tim, but it was the best first date a girl could ask for and I’ve loved snuggling up next to him at the bar ever since. The following year in February, I moved in with Tim, started a new job and then COVID shut down the world. To be honest, we had Monday’s as our ‘days off’, but tended to spend the balance of the week together so I was pretty confident that living together was going to be great. Getting to spend ALL the time together just reaffirmed how much I love him and what an amazing guy Tim is. He is incredibly hard working, loves his family, is kind, generous, and the most fun! Side note, also a loud phone talker 😊 I cannot wait to marry him and celebrate with you all!
