Things To Do

Rhode Island holds a special place in our hearts, and we hope it captures a piece of yours by the end of the weekend. While one trip can’t cover it all, here are a few of our favorite spots.
Day trip to Newport, RI

Day trip to Newport, RI

Newport, RI

Arriving early or extending your stay? A trip to Newport, RI is a must. Just 45 minutes from Providence, this coastal gem offers charming shops and delicious seafood. We recommend spending the day in Newport and doing the scenic Cliff Walk. Here you will see stunning views of the coast and impressive Gilded Age mansions. End your day with a stop in town for shopping, a bite to eat, and live music at the Warf.

Check out Friartown

Check out Friartown

1 Cunningham Square, Providence, RI 02918

Get a glimpse of where Maggie and Michael’s love story began with a visit to Providence College—lovingly known as "Friartown." Just 10 minutes from downtown Providence, this unique Catholic college, founded by Dominican Friars, features beautiful academic buildings, top-notch basketball facilities, and a stunning chapel. We suggest taking an evening stroll through campus to get a "lay of the land".

Dine on The Hill

Dine on The Hill

Atwells Avenue, Providence, RI 02903

Looking for a bite to eat the night before or morning after our big celebration? Look no further than Federal Hill. Often called "Little Italy," it is one of Providence’s most vibrant and historic neighborhoods. For a casual dining experience, we recommend Angelo's. For a more upscale dinner, we love Constantino's. If it sounds Italian and is located on Atwells Avenue, we promise it will be delicious!

Walk along Providence River Walk

Walk along Providence River Walk

Bridge Street, Providence, RI 02903

As one would expect from the smallest state in America, its capital is extremely walkable and pedestrian friendly. To see the city best, wander through downtown starting at the river walk. Along the way you will pass plenty of coffee shops, light bites, breweries, and shopping. We suggest taking stops at Small Point Cafe, Providence Coal Fired Pizza, Trinity Brewhouse, and Providence Place Mall.
