It all started on a crisp Saturday morning at the Saratoga Farmers Market. Mary was meandering through the booths, deciding between apples and pears, when she noticed a guy carefully examining a bunch of radishes like he was trying to solve a puzzle. She couldn’t help but laugh and said, “Those are just radishes, you know.” He turned, gave a cheeky smile, and said, “Well, I’m making a salad that’s going to change your life.” Naturally, she was intrigued. They started chatting about their favorite market finds, what they were cooking for the week, and before they knew it, they were sharing a cider donut and laughing over the most ridiculous conversations about which tomatoes were actually “romantic.” It was sweet. It was spontaneous. And it seemed like the perfect start to an unforgettable love story. Except, none of that actually happened. Like many modern couples, we met on Bumble. No radishes. No cider donuts. Just a couple of messages, a lot of emojis, and a shared understanding that we should definitely grab dinner sometime. Our first date was at Druthers in downtown Saratoga, and what was supposed to be a quick dinner turned into hours of conversation. We talked so long, the staff probably started wondering if we were ever leaving. We ended up closing the place down—not because we were trying to be cool, but because we literally couldn’t stop talking. Aaron likes to joke that Mary did all the talking that night, but Mary promises that he actually did a lot of the talking too. Either way, it was clear that something special was happening—and it’s been happening ever since.
