This famous square is a historic part of the French Quarter. It is named after and features a statue of Andrew Jackson, a battle of New Orleans hero. It is well known as an 'open-air' art gallery where, each year, over 200 local artists paint, draw, and display their artwork outside the park's iron fence. These talented artists are required by the city to obtain a permit to sell their art here and go through a rigorous process to be selected each year to receive their permit. Also, make sure to check out the horse drawn carriages where you can pay for a ride around the city!
This Shrine is located next to/connected to the church that the wedding ceremony will take place in. Father Seelos was the pastor of St. Mary's Assumption Church in the 1860s doing missionary work with the poor and sick during the yellow fever outbreak through the city of New Orleans and the church parish. The Bride's late grandmother, Anna Margaret Zaunbrecher, was a devout Catholic and spent lots of her life praying to Father Seelos. Shane and Brianne's dog is even named after Father Seelos and St. Jude, Seelo Jude. Father Seelos is in the canonization process to become a Saint within the Catholic Church. One miracle has been attributed to Father Seelos - the miraculous recovery of Angela Boudreaux from terminal liver cancer in 1966 - and other potential miracles are being currently reviewed by the Pope and the Vatican to declare Father Seelos a Saint.
