Shane and Brianne both happened to take leaps of faith in their careers that lead them to both be living in the beautiful state of New Jersey where they met. Brianne started working in New Jersey as a travel nurse in the NICU, and Shane started working for the New York Mets. For their first date, they met in Philadelphia, PA to go to dinner and see a live true crime documentary show which was put on by Brianne's favorite true crime podcast, Crime Junkie. They had a great time and both agreed that the chemistry was evident. After a few dates later, Shane officially asked Brianne to be his girlfriend on March 5th, 2023.

On April 27th, 2024, Shane got down on one knee at the site of the old Shea Stadium home plate. Shea Stadium was the former home of the New York Mets before Citi Field was constructed, and it was Shane's favorite place to go with his family as a child growing up as a Mets fan. The Shea Stadium home plate is memorialized in the parking lot of the current home of the New York Mets, Citi Field, and Citi Field was the beautiful background of Shane's proposal to Brianne. Of course, Brianne said yes!
