Wedding Party

Alex & Andrew

Bride & Groom

Our wedding party is made up of the people who have shaped our lives, supported our relationship, and made us laugh through every season. We are incredibly thankful to have them standing beside us as we begin this next chapter together.

Whitney

Maid of Honor

Alex and Whitney met while setting up their elementary school classrooms in the fall of 2021. Whitney is endlessly creative and always ready for either a great night out or a cozy evening in with a book. She always finds the time to learn and perfect skills like sewing, machine embroidery, cooking, and making incredible sourdough. Whitney also has a talent for bringing joy and laughter to friends and coworkers…occasionally with the help of a laser pointer. Since becoming friends, Whitney and Alex have navigated major life changes, difficult breakups, moves, career shifts, trips together, and rec kickball games in Kansas City followed by BBQ brunches at Char Bar. Whitney is also known for enthusiastically collaborating with Andrew on birthday surprises, Christmas gifts, and elaborate plans to make Alex feel loved and celebrated, including throwing Alex off the scent when she grew suspicious about the proposal.

Garrett

Best Man

Piper

Bridesmaid

Alex and Piper met through club swimming with the Lawrence Aquahawks sometime between 2006 and 2008. They have been friends for so long that neither of them remembers exactly when they met, but they do remember solidifying their friendship by attempting to create the world’s longest hopscotch course around the outdoor pool deck at the annual Beach Bash swim meet. Together, they survived illegally cold pools, swimming PRs, teenage drama, birthday slumber parties, duct tape wallets galore, birthday surprises, graduations, boyfriend drama, European adventures, college woes, and navigating sorority life at different universities. Along the way, their parents became close friends too, leading Alex and Piper to affectionately adopt the titles “Momma Debbie” and “Momma Lauri” for each other’s moms. Through every stage of life, Piper has remained one of Alex’s closest friends and favorite adventure buddies, despite being significantly more athletic and much faster in both hiking and swimming

Brady

Groomsman

Amanda

Bridesmaid

Alex and Amanda met in the late summer of 2005 shortly after Alex’s family moved to Lawrence. After spotting Amanda playing outside next door, Alex walked over the following day and knocked on the door. When Amanda’s sister answered, Alex explained that she had just moved in, had seen a girl playing outside, and was looking for a friend. Since that day, Amanda has been like a sister to Alex. The two grew up together spending hours outside, surviving icy snowballs thrown by Alex’s brother and neighborhood kids, dreaming about the future, and navigating childhood and teenage years side by side. Over the years, they shared, lake days, Colorado trips, mission trips, endless pickles, and summers spent watching Grey’s Anatomy, walking their dogs, and playing Michael Jackson: The Experience on the Wii. Amanda is creative, artistic, adventurous, and truly the best gift giver. Luckily, Amanda’s family welcomed the random little girl who knocked on their door looking for a friend, because it turned out to be one of the best decisions Alex ever made.

Cole

Groomsman

Jordan

Bridesmaid

Jordan is Alex’s cousin and the daughter of her Uncle Jay. It seems fitting that the two get along so well, as Alex’s mom and Jordan’s father were childhood best friends often referred to collectively as “Lauri and Jay.” Even though Alex and Jordan have always lived far apart, every time they are together it feels as though no time has passed at all. The two share a love of books and have accumulated countless inside jokes and memories over the years, including crabbing adventures during Fourth of July family reunions. More recently, they have enjoyed navigating wedding planning together after getting engaged around the same time. Jordan is witty, funny, and an incredible supporter who is always there to let Alex vent, laugh through life’s chaos, or offer encouragement when it is needed most. Her kindness and compassion shines through both her work as a nurse and in the way she cares for the people around her.

Alex (Rick)

Groomsman

Shiloh

Bridesmaid

Shiloh and Alex met in 2017 during undergrad at Truman State in their Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech Mechanism course. After pairing up to create a brain model named “Alan” (after the Brain from Arthur), they became the best of friends. Since meeting, Shiloh and Alex have navigated memorizing cranial nerves, making silly sign language videos, treating their first speech therapy clients, attending an ASHA convention, surviving graduate school during a pandemic, and discussing their shared dreams of world travel, all while becoming roommates and adopting a stray cat named Azula. Shiloh is kind, brilliant, and a quietly fierce friend who is always there with thoughtful advice or a way to make someone laugh when they need it most.
