You are very special to us and we can't wait to share our day with you.
Debra grew up in southern Mississippi on three beautiful acres surrounded by tall pines and a cypress-ringed pond, on a road built by her father. She became a graphic artist and a registered nurse. With a similar focus on home and family, Abraham grew up in western New York on a tidy 100-acre family farm amidst open skies and hayfields. He became a diesel mechanic and a mechanical engineer. Debra and Abraham first met at the home of two good friends (thank you Mike & Holly) over hot pot and Catan. After a handful of movies, card nights, and Nintendo Switch parties, Abe finally mustered up the courage to ask Debra on a date.
One evening, in the midst of Debra’s final semester of nursing school, Abe called her up and asked her to go bird watching with him at 6am that weekend at a local nature reserve. He showed up to greet Debra with a lovely bundle of Winterberry twigs tied together with a piece of fabric. It was a charming date that left them eager to see each other more often. Afterwards, they spent many evenings together studying and enjoying small adventures. As they learned more about each other, it was easy to tell they were an ideal match. Since then, they've become inseparably smitten and are growing closer daily.
St. George, as a protector plant of sorts, is a thoughtful way to remember the security and strength of loved ones that have passed. In the foyer of their home, within the leaves of one such plant, Abe hid the ring for Debra to find. The proposal was on one knee, simple and wholehearted — the answer to match. Blissfully connecting their shared past with a shared future, she said "yes" — one unsuspecting evening they can now never forget.
