This rooftop bar offers incredible, panoramic views of uptown Charlotte. This is where we had our first date!
This amazing rooftop bar immerses you in the center of uptown and treats its visitors to an amazing view of the city from every part of the rooftop. This is where we had originally planned to meet for our first date, but it happened to be randomly closed on the Wednesday that we decided to meet. We ended up spending our first Valentine's Day here.
The Green is a park with whimsical direction signs, public art, and sustainable infrastructure plus informational signs to teach you about how it is good for the environment. We love to bring our out-of-town guests whenever we are showing them uptown. When Eva was little, she used to come here for summer camp and would play in the fish fountain.
NoDa is an eclectic and vibrant arts district centered around North Davidson Street, known for its historic roots as a mill community, transformed into a hub of creativity with numerous art galleries, live music venues, public murals, breweries, unique shops, and a diverse culinary scene. The walkable neighborhood offers a dynamic mix of vintage charm and modern developments, connected to Uptown via the light rail, and hosts various festivals and events that showcase its distinctive, laid-back, and artistic atmosphere. We regularly go here to hang out at Wooden Robot brewery and grab ice cream at Jeni's afterwards. Some of our favorite restaurants in this area are Haberdish, Goodyear House, Cabo Fish Taco, and Jack Beagle's. We love how walkable the neighborhood is.
This neighborhood is a walkable, urban district south of Uptown. You'll find trendy restaurants, breweries, art galleries, and shops, which are all connected by the LYNX Blue Line Light rail. Fun fact: Charlotte Beer Garden can be found in this neighborhood, which is the largest beer garden in the Southeast. There are numerous public art installations to enjoy in the area, as well! We love the restaurant scene here. Some of our favorites include Brewers at Yancey, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery & Biergarten, and Yamazaru. We usually cap our night in this neighborhood at the Jeni's Ice Cream or the Golden Cow Creamery.
Charlotte’s Rail Trail, which runs 3.5 miles along the LYNX Blue Line in South End, serves as a hub for food, entertainment, art, and shopping just a few minutes from Uptown. During Dhiren's bachelor days, he lived in the South End neighborhood and would traverse the rail trail frequently. Back in the day, there was an amazing ramen restaurant called Futo Buta that he would frequent. Sadly, Futo Buta has since closed.
Nestled right outside Uptown Charlotte, Camp North End is a 76-acre mixed-use development featuring award-winning restaurants, retail shopping, and ample outdoor space for visitors to lounge year-round. Additionally, Camp North End houses the historic Ford Building, a former Ford factory that recently received a local historic landmark designation. Designed by Albert Kahn of Detroit Architecture fame, the Ford Building dates back to 1924 and was once a manufacturing plant for Model T and Model A cars. During WWII, the site was fully built out by the U.S. Army as a quartermaster depot that provisioned Army facilities across the eastern United States. We enjoy the little shops and restaurants in this area. We love ending our time here with dropping by Curry Gate (take out only) to pick up Indian food on the way home.
This is a historic, highly walkable Charlotte neighborhood known for its beautiful tree-lined streets, charming bungalows with front porches, and the Dilworth Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Situated just south of Uptown, it offers residents a vibrant atmosphere with a lively main street along East Boulevard featuring diverse shops, restaurants, and cafes, along with significant greenspace like Freedom Park and Latta Park. We love all of the cute restaurants in this area including Kid Cashew, Dolce Osteria, and 300 East.
This park offers a wide range of outdoor activities including hiking and biking trails, sports fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, disc golf courses, and a dog park. We love to take our dogs for a hike here very frequently. In fact, the entrance of our neighborhood is right next to one of the greenways that leads into the park (~2 mile trek).
This park is a vibrant urban oasis featuring beautifully landscaped gardens and stunning views of the city skyline, perfect for relaxation and photography. We did our Christmas photoshoot here in 2022.

This is a 98-acre urban park in Charlotte, NC, featuring a 7-acre lake, walking trails, playgrounds, athletic fields, and tennis courts. It offers a natural retreat with picturesque gardens, picnic areas, and a historic steam engine for visitors to explore. We have been to this park several times and particularly enjoy the Festival in the Park community event, which celebrates local artists and occurs annually in September.
