Question

When should I arrive in Fiji?

Answer

When booking travel and stay, keep in mind that Fiji is 19+ hours ahead of the US. Depending on when you leave, you will arrive 1-2 days later in Fiji. For example, on our last trip to Fiji, we left on September 4 in the US and arrived on the morning of September 6 in Fiji. The wedding is on June 15, and we recommend you stay at the resort the night before as well. So please arrive to Fiji no later than June 14. Of course, you can come as early as you want to start your trip ahead of time.

Question

Where is Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort and how do I get there?

Answer

There are two Outrigger resorts in Fiji. The one we are going to is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away from the Nadi International Airport (where you will fly into). To book, please see our Travel page with a special link for a discounted rate. We recommend booking a private transfer for the trip. We have personally used Xplore Fiji Tours & Transfers and had extremely positive experiences each time. There is a link to their website on the Travel page. The average cost for a one-way trip from the airport to Outrigger is $82 USD. There are local bus lines and taxis available as well, we just don't have direct experience with riding them.

Question

Do I have to stay at Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort for my entire trip?

Answer

No! We recommend you book at Outrigger from June 14 - June 16 (2 nights). You can stay wherever you like for the remainder of your trip before/after the wedding. Please see the Travel tab for a special booking portal that will offer you 15% off your stay. If you want to head back toward the Nadi area, we highly recommend the Hilton Fiji Beach Resort in Denarau. Denarau is a very touristy area with brand-name hotels and easy access to the Denarau port where the majority of cruise or other water activities take off from.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

We want you to be comfortable! We'll be on the beach, after all. We recommend flowing and/or thin materials. Your typical beach vacation dinner wear.

Question

Do I need to give a gift?

Answer

We acknowledge that your attendance at our destination wedding already comes at a steep cost. We consider your attendance the gift and do not expect anything on top of that. However, we do have a few things on our registry if you are interested in checking it out!

Question

Why is everything so expensive?

Answer

It's not! This is a reminder that most everything you are booking is listed in Fijian dollars (FJD). Be sure to do the USD conversion on your end when planning trip costs. In our experience, Fiji is extremely affordable compared to many other tropical destinations. Currency converter: https://www.oanda.com/currency-converter/en/?from=FJD&to=USD&amount=1

Question

How far in advance do I need to book everything?

Answer

We recommend booking as far in advance as you can; however, here is a priority list of what to book first. 1. Your stay at Outrigger. Follow the link on our Travel page to a special portal that offers you 15% off your stay. As mentioned earlier, we recommend you stay June 14 - June 16, 2025 at a minimum. It is up to you if you want to stay at this resort for the rest of your trip as well, or if you'd like to travel to another part of the main island or a different island entirely. Fiji has hundreds of islands and South Sea Curises (linked on our travel page) offers daily routes that take you to the main ones if you do choose to stay on one. 2. Your flights. We recommend setting up an alert through Going.com (formerly Scott's Cheap Flights) to track prices of flights to Fiji. This is what we used to find the most affordable option on our last trip. 3. Airport Transfer to Outrigger. You can book this closer to the wedding date, but we recommend doing it at least 2 months in advance of the trip. The transfer is relatively affordable, it's just something we don't want you to forget to do since the resort is 1h and 15m away from the airport. You will also need to book a transfer back to the Nadi airport for your flight home. 4. Trip activities. You can book these whenever, but why not start looking now! Figuring out what things you'd like to do and see in Fiji will help you decide if you want to stay at Outrigger before/after the wedding, or if you want to stay at different hotels. We mention this on the Travel page, but we recommend booking everything through Viator for easy access during your trip. Please see the next FAQ for some activities we've done that we recommend you check out too.

Question

What else is there to do in Fiji?

Answer

Tons! When we went to Fiji we stayed in Denarau, which is about 20 minutes from Nadi International Airport. It is a great location since it has a free shuttle to the port where almost every water-related activity takes off from. Here are things we did that we really enjoyed, as well as some things we didn't get to do but that look great. 1. ATV Nadi Tour (cannot recommend this one enough!): https://www.viator.com/tours/Viti-Levu/Mud-Sling-Quad-Bike-Adventure/d50206-26700P4 2. Snorkel Cruise on Private Island: https://www.viator.com/tours/Nadi/Fijian-Islands-and-Snorkel-Full-Day-Whales-Tale-Cruise-including-Beach-BBQ-Lunch/d4795-2260FJTR32N?mcid=54929&awc=11018_1679283973_d2266489d2869a9c5dbc87264741fd5e&aid=awinUSDEEPLINK_434999 3. Sunset Dinner Cruise: https://www.captaincookcruisesfiji.com/day-cruises/sunset-dinner-cruise Things we didn't do but wanted to: 1. Half Day Zip-line Tour: https://www.viator.com/tours/Nadi/Half-Day-Fiji-Zipline-Tour-from-Nadi/d4795-11634P5 2.
