Well, it was not so much of a bar, as it was a swanky San Diego coffee shop turned beer tasting fundraiser venue, but you get the drift. Setting the Stage: Gina: I had just moved to San Diego two months prior, and was still getting acquainted with the city. When invited to this fundraising event by a lab mate (shout out to Daniel Wright!), I did not want to miss an opportunity for a night out and the chance to meet some new people. Andrew: I was wrapping up my 4th year of drinking and playing Rugby while looking to put a cap on what had been a long and successful run of good times. By cap, I am not referring to the cap and gown I wore while receiving my release papers from the University of California San Diego, but the metaphorical capstone achievement associated with the end of a successful era. Anyways, in continuance with the times I went out with some of the boys for what I excepted to be an evening of beers and banter. To Make a Long Story Short... Drinks were flowing, conversations were effortless, bar entrance fees were dodged, lies were told to an Uber driver, country music was blasted, and a love story was born that very evening. Life happens when you least expect it, and that night, neither of us were expecting to find our happily ever after, but we are so glad we did!
