They met at Universal--Shaquille was a "veteran" Pass Sales Team Captain, Alexandra was the new trainee. Their magical first interaction? "Hey, can you pass me that stapler? I'll help cash out." After Alexandra switched a morning shift with Shaq's Halloween Horror Nights shift (worst. decision. ever.), friendship quickly blossomed between the two. During their first "friend hangout" at Sushiology, Shaq promised Alexandra to be her tour guide during her first European adventure (Brit that he was, he was already a world traveler). The more they talked, the more they connected--until that fateful day while watching "The Great British Bake-Off," Alexandra made her move...and the rest is history. To celebrate their coming together, they decided to have their anniversary be on Pie Day--for what is sweeter than a slice of pie? And while many plans were made to actually get pie on their anniversary (a local bakery, "P is for Pie" immediately came to mind)--it would be 2 years later until they finally shared a slice of bourbon pecan pie. Shaq insists that Alexandra's homemade pecan pie is better. Alexandra doesn't disagree.
As teachers, both Alexandra and Shaq were exhausted--mentally, physically, emotionally; so it was time for a date day just the two of them. Little did Alexandra know that Shaq was going to make this a very special date day... They decided to go to Harry Leu Gardens--a place they always talked about visiting in Orlando, but had never made the trek. $20 and some allergy medicine later, they walked through the gardens--Alexandra made silly comments about the flower labels, while Shaq made sly comments about potential wedding locations throughout the garden. They revisited Sushiology to grab lunch and reminisce on their first dates. Shaq proposed that they visit Disney Springs (where they had gone after their sushi that first time), and as they walked around, they talked about their favorite memories at Disney: attending Mickey's Not So Scary Party for Shaq's birthday, excitedly looking through all the fall and winter decorations, going on Rise of the Resistance for the first time--completely astonished at how amazing a ride could ever be. On the way home, they remembered that on one of their very first dates, they had talked on a dock in Dr. Phillips (for HOURS)--and they had never gone back there. What better place to end a great day? On the dock, they talked about life--their future house, their goals, their dreams. After a pause in the conversation, Shaq looked at Alexandra and said that ever since that night 4 years ago, he knew that he wanted to be her husband. Alexandra smiled and said that she couldn't wait to be his wife. "Well..I guess we should just make it official then." And he proposed with her mother's engagement ring. After (A LOT) of happy tears, she said yes.
Alexandra and Shaq are looking forward to celebrating with you at "The Enchanting Barn" in Osteen, FL on Sunday, 12.18.22.
