They met on Valentine’s Day at JJ's Tavern, the kind of timing that makes you believe in a little bit of fate. Reece was bartending, and Michael snuck in the back door. By the end of the night, she actually turned to her friend and jokingly said, "I think I just met my husband." They had unknowingly crossed paths at the University of Florida for eight months. Mutual friends, common hangout spots, even Michael’s hockey team frequented JJ's. But that night, everything aligned. Reece and Michael started dating eight months later, in October of 2018, after Bella finally gave her stamp of approval, many Chick-fil-A, Larry's, and pizza dates, hangouts at JJ's, unexpected run-ins at walk-in clinics, summer darties, date functions, a couple of game days, visits to each other’s hometowns, and meeting the parents. They became each other’s best friend, and what followed over the next few years was a slow unfolding: taking in an abandoned cat, late nights working at the bars, many bus rides to road trips and more date functions, hockey games, countless weddings of friends and family, navigating COVID, attending Gator games, graduating, growing, building careers, driving all over the state of Florida, and traveling. In August of 2022, they bought their first house in Tampa and moved in together for the first time. A year later, Michael proposed at the place where it all began, the University of Florida, and surprised Reece with an engagement party right after at their favorite bar, JJ's Tavern. Now engaged, they were adjusting to the major life changes that had been stacking up since 2020. They were excited to embark on the journey they thought was next: planning a wedding and continuing to grow as a couple in the home they had just bought. But then came one of the biggest, most unexpected changes yet. Together, they made the decision for Michael to leave his career and pursue a new path more aligned with his passion for aviation. He was going to spend the next 2–3 years becoming a pilot for Southwest Airlines. And before moving seven hours away to a place they’d never been, where they knew no one, they decided to add one more layer of change: a new puppy. In June of 2024, they packed up and drove everything they owned to Pensacola, Florida, to start yet another chapter. Over the last seven years, they have grown up side by side. From college kids complaining about $5 drinks and dreaming big dreams, unsure how to accomplish them, to partners and best friends navigating real life, real change, and everything in between. There have been many, many moments, some ordinary, some unforgettable, and somehow, all of them led them here. The day that’s planned is more than a celebration. It’s a continuation of the story they’ve been writing all along, and they can’t wait to share it with you.
