How We Met & Dating Life

Written by Jane

Peter and I met via what I considered a last resort... online dating. In December of 2019 a couple friends, Ella, and I were together to celebrate my birthday. Somehow in that weekend they convinced me to not only make a dating profile but also required me to go on one date a month in 2020. Let's just say I figured they would forget about that deal... they did not. Come January of 2020 I had started conversations with a few people but the last weekend of the month was rolling around and I had yet to go on my date. Enter, Peter! With his perfect timing he asked me out for brunch that final Saturday! As I prepared for our date I found myself hoping it would be terrible so I could tell my friends that I had the worst time and would never have to online date again. Flashforward and that ended up still being true! Peter was so easy to talk to and fun to be around, not to mention he asked to pray for our meal (something I immediately told my family on my drive home)! Our date was wonderful and it would be my last online date. From there we jumped right into quarantine and got down to figuring out if we actually like being together. Turns out, we LOVE being together and have never ran out of things to talk about or do! Throughout it all our dating life was very intentional, always trusting in Gods timing, and continuing to learn about each other and be a part of each of our families. One year flew by and then it was just a matter of time for the next step.

Engagement Time

Written by Peter

To Jane Saturday, August 7th, 2021 began as a slow morning with the only plans being a happy hour and then a nice dinner with friends. I picked her up for happy hour and that's when our siblings and their spouses moved in (with the help of a spare key from her mom) to transform Jane's apartment to be what I had envisioned. After I received the go-ahead text, we headed back to the apartment but Jane just HAD to check her mailbox, I tried to play it cool and slowly take the things from her hands as I knew what was coming. As I turned the key, "I said we're not seeing our friends" and Jane replied "Why?" and as she said that it soon became clear. There were questions of "What's happening? What is this? Is this really happening?" which all had the answer of "Yes, you're getting proposed to now". Pictures were laid on either side of an aisle of eucalyptus (which you can still find sprinkled throughout) and guided with notes on the back and "Will You Marry Me?" on the front. We reminisced on the memories and read the notes (which would be more fully read later on) and continued down until we got to our favorite picture of us and the ring. I kneeled down asked "Will you marry me?" and she said, "Yes, of course". We were so happy that the ring didn't get on right away, and if you know Jane, it was only after she had chosen to know the plan that she put the ring on! From there we celebrated just the two of us and had a family friend swing up to take photos of us and the setup. We both received texts from her parents and then my parents sent "This is the only time that your mother says drive fast." After that, we sped out to Jane's parents and went and celebrated with our families! It was the best moment of my life thus far and I'm pretty sure April 30, 2022 will soon take the crown.
