In November of 2017, Nick was in Santa Cruz, CA, for two weeks to surf and to visit with his good friends Mike and Chrissy. As it happened, Becky was living only a block away from their house in the Seabright area. Just a couple days before Nick was to return to Idaho from his vacation, he and Becky serendipitously matched on the dating app Bumble. Taken with Nick's impressive beard, nice smile and interesting Forest Service job, Becky sent Nick a message. Nick thought Becky was very pretty, sweet and wholesome looking, and so he happily messaged her back. Alas, even as they began a delightful message exchange over the Bumble app- sitting only one city block apart from one another- they were unable to meet before Nick hit the road back to the mountain west. But, they stayed in touch. A pen pal and phone based friendship led to Becky visiting Nick in December of 2017. After meeting IRL (that's "In Real Life" for the millennials and older crowd), a romance blossomed. The stars continued to align, and Nick and Becky paid several visits to each other in Santa Cruz and Teton Valley. Before long, it seemed only natural for Becky to move to Idaho in April of 2018. Their dogs, Fern and Yarrow, gratefully approved of each other and their respective owners. Since then, Nick, Becky, Fern, Yarrow and cat Loki have been living happily, and the rest is history.
