About the Destination

Mt. Vernon is a small city in rural Ohio. It's about 9.6 sq.-mi. (24.9 sq.-km.), population: 16,000 people. Its closest neighbor is Gambier, which is a small village in rural Ohio. Gambier is about 1 sq.-mi. (2.4 sq.-km.), population: 2,400 people. Gambier is also home to Kenyon College. For convenience, we strongly recommend flying in and out of Columbus Airport, renting a car, and staying at a hotel or house rental in Mt. Vernon or Gambier. However, there are several small towns surrounding these areas, and we encourage you to use Google Maps (google.com/maps) any time you need to check the distance between places.

CMH - John Glenn Columbus International Airport

Columbus is the nearest Airport to the town where all wedding events will be held: Mt. Vernon, Ohio. It's about 1-hour drive (45-60 mi./70-95 km.) from CMH Airport to Mt. Vernon. There are no shuttles or trains, so you will want to make plans to rent a car and/or carpool with family/friends.

CLE - Cleveland Hopkins International Airport

It is about 2-hour drive (95 mi./153 km.) from CLE Airport to Mt. Vernon, Ohio. There are no shuttles or trains, so you will want to make plans to rent a car and/or carpool with family/friends.

It is about 2.5-hour drive (150 mi./240 km.) from PIT Airport to Mt. Vernon, Ohio. There are no shuttles or trains, so you will want to make plans to rent a car and/or carpool with family/friends.

We anticipate that the grand majority of guests will need to rent a car, given that the nearest airport is 1-hour away and there is no public transportation. The most affordable car rentals are typically going to be those based out of any Airport, and we encourage you to search Costco, Hotwire, Kayak, and/or Expedia for the best prices. There is ample parking both in Mt. Vernon and Gambier overall, including at our Wedding Venue.

Though Mt. Vernon and Gambier are both small, neighboring towns in Ohio, both have housing options you can find on AirBnB (www.airbnb.com) and VRBO (www.vrbo.com). Given how many guests are coming from out of town, we anticipate that our hotels will sell out and encourage exploring these options.
