It's semi-formal. So long dresses are encouraged but definitely not required. For boys, think suit and tie or stylish blazer slacks combo. We'll be wearing suits and long dresses and smiles. It'll be at the top of a mountain, so make shoe choices accordingly (i.e. avoid stilletos). You'll have to walk on a grass lawn and on those tricky steel steps common at ski resorts that are known to eat heels.
We love your kids and Steamboat is a great place for children! But we want this to be your night off too, so Saturday will be adults only. Kids are more than welcome to attend the Friday Welcome dinner and the Sunday morning brunch.
For babysitting services, we've received recomendations for Care.com and https://www.steamboatbabysitting.com/ Hotels in the area also often have services or recommendations on sitters, so if you are staying at the Sheraton or the Steamboat Grand, give them a call. The entire wedding is up on the mountain peak, so it would be unrealistic to go back down to your hotel or lodging periodically throughout the night.
If you stay in or around the Sheraton or Steamboat Grand, you can walk to the gondola for the ceremony and reception and to the Steamboat Grand for the brunch and pool party. The welcome dinner is just a short ride away on the free shuttle which comes regularly. The front desk can help you catch the right one or you can see the map below. We suggest taking the 5:02 or 5:22 from the Gondol Transit Center to make the welcome party.
The FREE shuttle!!! of course :) For getting around town, the free shuttle is a great tool! See the map and schedule here: https://steamboatsprings.net/DocumentCenter/View/14165/Summer-2018-Local-Service-Schedule?bidId=
The Gondola leaves the Steamboat base and takes us to the mid mountain lodge. That's where everything will happen. It should be about a 10-15 minute ride. Make sure to enjoy the views of the valley!
You need to book shuttles in advance. Contact Alpine Taxi to arrange a shuttle. The area also has Lyft and Uber as well as traditional taxi companies.
Dress Casual. There will be a beach volleyball court, horseshoes, and a taco bar. There's a playground for the kiddos and it's near the rodeo if you want to check that out. The rodeo trials will be going on Friday and they are free.
